Just read that article, and I dont think a player would tell their high school coach they were being paid to go to a college. Just sayin.

HBO will not run with this story... They paid a guy to say something and everyone else has denied it... Now that McClover is backing away from the statement (Bet his Auburn Buddies got to him).. then HBO will probable not run his segment.

How is the comparison "a joke". Both were accused of being bid on by multiple schools. The dollar amounts are very similar. With LY and Means, there was very strong circumstancial evidence of LY providing four figure amounts of cash to a high school coach and a player's family. IF proof of payments are found connecting Auburn and CN, then it will be almost identical to the Means case.

That's the rub. The Means case had a money trail. A head coach at a rundown Memphis high school suddenly had $200,000 and a Range Rover, plus a jilted assistant coach was was more than happy to blow the whistle on the whole thing and help provide evidence to investigators. As far as we know there's nothing even remotely similar in the Cam mess.

The Cam accusation falls apart without any proof of payment - unless Cam or Cecil have some sort of crisis of conscience and admit that Auburn or anyone else gave them money. So where is the money? We're not talking about a sweaty wad of bills to help out with the groceries or rent here, as has been the case with other p4p schemes. We're talking about an amount of money that is larger than most American's retirement nest egg.

And if they haven't traced that by now, it's over. Because the Newton family is now officialy awash with cash. Cam is guaranteed an 8-figure NFL signing bonus and just signed the most lucrative endorsement deal for an NFL prospect ever. You can no longer point to a pile of cash on Cecil's bed and say, where did this come from?

You make another good point. I have a rub though as well with the "the coach had $200,000 part". That's an urban legend that changes with the year and hasn't been proven. The "deal" was for that much and maybe he eventually would have gotten that but he didn't get $200k off the bat like is conveniently thrown around. My understanding is he got sizable four figure installments (ultimately WAY below 6 figures) before the whistle was blown. Still bad, but not the ridiculous $200k that always gets thrown around.

I agree about Cam's new money. It will make it much harder to find any money that may have changed hands. I don't think a link would've involved a simple cash transfer in this case though. I think if the payment occurred in was so buried in layers by Auburn people that it would be an absolute bitch trying to actually connect the two.

I've thought for a while now that if Auburn ultimately gets busted it will be from something other than Camgate. I think CamGate will end up being the thing that got the NCAA on the trail of other things IF Auburn ends up in trouble.

It has to be pretty frustrating for people in ATPB getting bait put in their face and having it taken away so many times.

No shite. When are they going to accept that nothing is going to happen? This whole story is getting old as hell.

I just got off the phone with a guy that is in the know at Auburn. I know y'all will think I am full of shite but I can tell you that I have sat in his living room with Tommy Tuberville on numerous occasions. This info is not form tubbs but from other that I know and that my friend is very close with. I will tell you what he just called me to tell me and you can take it for what its worth.

He started out with Auburn is finished:

The Machine at Auburn behind all of this is the Tigers Unlimited Foundation.

- He was told that they have video of players using Colonial Bank ATM cards.
- He said this will make the SMU thing look like no big deal.
- He said Auburn will be removed from the SEC and they will lose football. Yes...the death penalty.

- He said that the man told him that we all walk a fine line in the sec and the we sometimes get a little off the line or we may get in a ditch every now and then but that Auburn has completely gone off roading.
- I can tell you that one of the guys he talked with this week coached in the sec for many years and is solid as a rock.

That is all so believe it or not but Auburn is finished.

Scoop,
The death Penalty needs to be handed down to AU and those coaches should be banned from coaching any kid. I feel bad for Ross but I saw the similarities between SMU and AU. Now who takes AU's place in the SEC West?

I can't help but laugh at how easy some people make it seem to move very large amounts of cash around. Even if AU has figured out a way to do it on their end, what is the player or coach or parent gonna do with it on their end? You can't just walk into a bank and deposit a couple hundred grand in large unmarked bills into your checking account that's 36 dollars over drawn. Too many paper trails and money is way too easy to track electronically.
