To my best recollection, there hasn’t been a team win it all that lives and dies by the three. All it takes is one night of below average shooting. We saw that tonight.

This isn’t a dis at Bama, but I think this is probably Bama’s ceiling with Oats (Elite 8 and maybe a Final Four). His offense doesn’t require a ton of genius. Just launch a ton of threes. I get Bama was efficient in two pointers this year, but they live at the three point line.

Duke is for sure the best team in the nation. They don’t shoot a ton of threes. They shoot very well anywhere on the court. I don’t really see them having a ton of problems from here on out. Florida may give them the toughest game.

Nathaniel just can’t help himself.

No worries though, he’ll do the same thing next year

Alabama's problem tonight and all season was less about the “live and die by the three” and more about being sloppy. Missed layups, missed dunks, missed free throws and turnovers cost this team more than missed threes.

Agreed. I also think teams with bigger guards create problems for us.

They’ll be good, but won’t win it all with that O.

Well, they did do that, but that was once they realized that the three wasn’t there tonight.

It’s as if he didn’t even watch the game. 4 wide open dunks/layups and many more at the rim shots not to mention the defensive lapses.

They used to say this about Rick Pitino.

Facts. I can't count how many times Alabama had an insane amount of turnovers and missed shots at the rim this season. Alabama was its own worst enemy with sloppy play throughout the season. They were still winning, but they were a flawed team all season.

Something has to be done about the defense. Oats has put together two phenomenal seasons but he’s struggled to replace Hodgson and Pettway.

This. Only add is they have a drive to the hole and draw a foul or make a high pct shot game

Played it wrong tonight

But, to be fair, no matter how they played it, the better team won

We keep having these takes about "dying by the 3." This does not describe this Bama team.

Couldn't guard a fence post either.

I appreciate the rest of your comments, but the facts are, if 'Bama made 25 3's like they did against BYU, they win this game.

This would be true of any team on any night ever.

I tried to tell Bama but they would not stop dying by the Three. Pity

“If Alabama had tied their tournament record from the previous game, they would’ve won.”

That is the biggest problem with Oats system. Pearl has loved the smaller guards. I think this year has shown him that bigger guards, who can shoot and pay D, is the way to go. I just never have liked the small guard philosophy. Size matters.

They went 8 for 32 tonight

Yeah because there was a 7'2" monster parked near the rim affecting everything close because he didn't need to help on the perimeter.

Bama had two less turnovers than Duke did.
