National championships used to be decided before the bowls were played. What a joke.

Anything pre 1936 is asswater and doesn't count.

The only time a team should be allowed to claim a national championship that wasn't awarded by the AP or UPI/coaches poll was something like 1964 where both polls didn't take into account postseason and in the bowls the #1 team got waxed while the #2 team won.

See: 1964 where Arkansas should have been the national champion

don't care if AP didn't vote for them, little thing going on in MS at that time that the National press didn't think to fondly of

4 huh? Marge.

Aggie lie. Yet you're so good at it. Practice makes perfect.

1, as in ONE only. 1939

Poor lying ags.

I wonder where that is now. If I was the staff member tasked with throwing it out, I'd have been tempted to snag it and then wait a few years for the trail to grow cold and then anonymously sell it to a rich Texas donor.

Per the NCAA Website: LINK

Ole Miss 1960

Texas A&M 1919 and 1939

And just because

Auburn 1957 and 2010

LSU is also outright listed for 1908 but does not claim it

Knew before I even read anything in here that LSU fans would be posting more than anyone trying to say none of these count.

What’s funny though is the teams who say the titles aren’t legit will leverage series records going back to and before those same timeframes. Which is it? How do you want the goal posts shifted?

aggy has one title, 1939. These other two they "found" in 2012.

Every title before 1998 is called a mythical national championship. You could go 0-11 and still win it. Just need votes.

bullshite. First off, there was the Bowl Coalitions and Bowl Alliances before the BCS.

And in reality, it was much HARDER to win a national championship back then, not easier.

NCAA.com is run by Turner sports media network or something like that,(TBS basically), not the NCAA. The NCAA does not have a formula or anything that recognizes titles. What you are linking is just what some editor put together, it changes all the time. A few years ago they were listing 2017 UCF.

If anyone can point me to the standards the NCAA has for recognizing national championships, I'd love to see them.

I'd count 1908 as legit for LSU if they claimed it.

Ole Miss doesn't have 1960.

A&M only has 2.

1957 and 2010 are the only 2 legit Auburn has. Although I haven't looked over there pre AP claims yet.

Yep...Ive said Texas A&M has 3 titles to LSU fans and only 1 title behind their 4 titles and for some reason LSU fans think Texas A&M have no titles.

Equally as valid as aTm and Ole miss’s 3 nattys each.
