Wrong. We offered him a revised contract that would have immediately raised his pay and extended the term, but that wasn’t the ultimatum.

We told him that if he agreed to coach elsewhere it would constitute a resignation effective immediately. He tried for weeks to have his cake and eat it too, and eventually chose to leave.

Blue bloods aren’t made over a 5 year period.

I know ole miss fans think college football started in 2020 but c’mon.

He valued coaching at LSU in 2026 over the playoff team. He knew the consequences and chose. Y’all turning this into some slight from Ole Miss is the weirdest part of all of this.

Everybody knows it’s 23 years… To be a blue blood. You have to be good every 5 or so years over 23 years. Facts

And yes he quit.

If I take another job, I have to quit my current job.

It’s been a shite show with the assistants trying to do two jobs, LK being at OM would have been this times 200%.

Yes.

Every coach quits on teams to be hired at other jobs.

I’m not sure what else you’d call a coach that suddenly whale away from a team in the middle of the playoffs. He’s a quitter that only cares about himself and he’s always been that way.

"Hi boss, I really love working here and I'm so proud of all that I accomplished and learned here. That said, you see, I've been offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work for another company and I just can't turn it down. I hope you understand".

"I hate to see you go, but I'm happy for you. You can finish out your shift and pack your office at the end of the day"

"Wait, boss, I really would appreciate the opportunity to finish the quarter strong. Can we work something out that would allow me to finish what I started this quarter?"

"Hell no, today's your last day"

"Well, I hate to hear that but I understand."

30 minutes later during staff meeting:

"Just so y'all know, today is so-and-so's last day. He resigned before the end of the quarter"

"Damn, I can't believe he just quit on us like that. I hope we can all pick up the slack and finish strong without him"

The implication here is that he shouldn’t have taken the LSU job, which is almost as absurd as CFB’s season ending 1/20.

Y’all don’t want to see it, but he has bent over backwards to help Ole Miss. And has monetary incentives to do so.

“Lane built the team” you guys need to look in the mirror it’s getting kind obvious that Pete was and is the main recruiter.

Check portal rankings.

Maybe not the offense but actually getting players there it’s Pete and now Frank Wilson one of greatest recruiters ever. For the offense we aren’t going anywhere our OC spent 2 years under Kiff. Also led ECU to a top 15 offense this year.

Well, the NIL era started in 21 and we’re top 3 in sec wins since then. And this era is the only one that counts.

Anything that happened before it, Dosnt matter. Whole different time in football. Some fans refuse to believe it.

So, he was told to leave and he didn't quit?
