He said wins are a byproduct of being able to develop players

I watched his presser. He had no good answer on why he took the LSU job. Just said alignment over and over.

The new coaches always throw that line in for the academics on the BOT

For coach Kelly it’s about developing players to win on the field and in life. If your coaches are doing it just for wins on the field, he’s a failure.

That's some serious spin right there. Even you don't believe this.

If Kelly went to ole mis I’d still say the following.

This is more of a Sabanesque “it’s more about the process than the result.

Simply put, last time I saw him in the opposite sideline he had a “great team”, and the game was over in the tunnel before kickoff.

Not terribly concerned. Might have laughed it had been Riley instead.

Would be seriously concerned if it had been Arada.

We get it. Ed O is better than Kelly. LSU should have kept O, should have kept Miles.

Or maybe he doesn’t want to piss off the fan base that he just left after a decade. He knows damn well it’s because he can win championships at LSU and not at ND. He just doesn’t want to say that.

This is also the mighty Saban's philosophy, you dumbass.

And it's a good one. He tells recruits that he doesn't want them to commit to Alabama; he wants them to commit to working hard to be the best person they can be or some shite.

Kelly really has you idiots flailing around especially bad these days.

Now you’re just being silly.

Most non-LSU posters are not too concerned about Kelly. It’s impressive that LSU pulled him away from ND, that’s the highlight of the hire.

I would’ve been more concerned if LSU had hired any one of Riley, Aranda, or Napier. Hell, UT’s Heupel at LSU would be more worrisome to me than Kelly.

Actually, no, he didn't say that.

Riley was not coming to the SEC West. He *may* have gone to Florida... maybe.

Napier is too much a risk for LSU right now. The SEC West is too crazy good, too many good/great coaches.

Aranda... not sure about why LSU didn't offer.

Kiffin... I don't trust him at all. Don't get me wrong, LSU fans would welcome him, but the guy always has one foot out the door.

LSU fans would for the most part welcome a new coach, including myself (Napier, Kiffin, Riley, Kelly, etc).

I'm going to be honest - I never saw it coming, Brian Kelly coming to LSU. After reading about him and about what he's done, I do like the hire. I prefer him over Miles and O (when they were hired). He brings stability, discipline, adaptability, and yes, he recruited well at ND. ND can't get the 'difference making' athletes. LSU can. I'm not saying he will tear it up at LSU... I have no idea, it's a "let's give him 3 or 4 years" attitude. LSU has roster issues right now.

Lol anyone giving him shite for that is dumb.

It's a basic introductory press conference/recruiting throwaway line. You can't really think that a P5 coach really thinks that wins don't matter. All coaches put out to the public that their program does more than football and turns boys into men etc. Of course he knows wins matter.

Everyone on this board is so scared that LSU has it's first competent coach since Saban. He will no doubt be a winner.

A coach named Bear Bryant said it too but he is a poor example.
