He's been mostly in third team reps from what I've read and hasn't shown any signs of his former 5 star abilities. Depth piece at this point unless he gets aligned.
HE is the most talented CB we have bar none, straight out of the insiders mouths who watch the practices, he's been running 2nd/3rd team because of issues off the field. Nothing to do with talent at all. He would be starting if he could get aligned no doubt about it.

hes not quite at highest rated TE recruit ever mental illness territory yet but he doesnt have alot of opportunities left to squander either. with our depth in the secondary taking hits he needs to get it together.

Bad apples that almost every other team in the country wanted too. Did they all not do their due diligence as well?
Let's say Ohio State offers a kid $5k in NIL because they think he's a character risk and Michigan offers him $50k because he's "muh 5 star left tackle."
He chooses Michigan, flames out, and transfers to Ohio State for $2k the next offseason because he's still a character risk.
Who did their due diligence and who got left holding the bag?
A&M went star chasing in 2022, it's pretty well known, Josh Pate has even mentioned it on his show. Hell, Texas is doing the same thing this season.
If you notice though, Jimbo learned his lesson and has been more methodical in the subsequent two classes.

He may have even been kicked out of A&M academically before he entered the portal.
You have to be in acceptable academic standing to even enter the portal, which means the Aggie rumors about him failing out of school were made-up.

1. He brought in 1.
We've had no depth in the defensive backfield because the last staff did a horrible job managing that group, so we've had to bring in transfers.
25 defensive backs in the last 3 recruiting cycles.
So if you get a chance to take a guy like Denver Harris, you do, and you give him a short leash.
I'm not at all worried about Kelly's ability to handle discipline.

I'm glad we don't have any problems like that.

This is true, Chestnut and Harris are the two most naturally talented corners LSU has.
I would really be surprised if Harris is a meaningful contributor in 2023 though. The staff has tried to get him straight and he just isn't getting it.

In your scenario they both did the same level of diligence, they both offered a scholarship that the recruit might accept. Ohio State likely doesn’t know exactly what other places are offering so there’s still a chance he commits.
Trying to pretend that LSU, or Alabama, or any other team offered him but he didn’t originally sign with were “more diligent” is dumb. Y’all would’ve taken the kid in a heartbeat when the class signed and you know it. Same with many other players from A&M’s 22 class. Hindsight is always 20/20.

IMO, it's a win if he stays on the team and is just depth at this point.

That's how the acquisition was always painted. As a fan, I hope he gets it together, especially with the Johnson injury.

Somebody needs to go back and recap all these huge losses A&M suffered to the transfer portal:
1. a WR who was kicked out of Ole Miss
2. a corner running 3rd string in an average at best LSU secondary.
3. a corner who was picked up by Louisville
4. a QB who was picked by by Georgie Tech
5. a DL who went to USC
6. a corner who was kicked out of Georgia
7. a LBer who literally didn't play a snap
8. a LBer who lost is job to a younger player
Is that about it, for scholarship players? I'm sure I missed some guys who never played, but I can't think who.

Do all these guys still get to keep that sweet A&M NIL?

Sounds like he needs to get off social media, put the phone down and get his crap together. Same story different school/day.

It was pretty clear A&M was just buying the slam dunk recruiting class for 2022 with no regard to the character of anyone.

As far as I've seen, he does not have any NIL sponsorships listed. He was probably a JUCO player after his stunts in College Station until CBK took a chance on him. Using a scholarship on him is the only thing that was going to happen IMO. Hopefully he doesn't sign any car deals.
