Defending National Champions LSU are currently 6th in their division, with a head-to-head loss against the other 2-win team.

Still the reigning National Champions, though.

I like that word, "Champions."

It's not like it's a new thing for a Louisiana baw to say "Thank God for Mississippi".

But you'lll be the "worst" defending champion when it's alll over.

1. 1967 Michigan State Spartans
Record: 3-7

Finished: Beat Northwestern 41-27 in final regular-season game.

Final Ranking: Unranked

Defending national champion entered the season ranked third but were upset at home by Houston in a 37-7 beatdown. The season devolved from there, and the Spartans were only able to manage three wins against teams with losing records. No other defending national champion has experienced this type of drop off.

Looks like it, LSU needs to win 2 more games to not at least tie MSU

Oops. I read this thread title as "DeFUNDING National Champions LSU".

I'd be in favor of that.

Friendly reminder that Texas A&M hasn’t won a national championship in over 80 years (1939).

Went from being called the "fighting tigers" to the "yeller tigers" in less than a year.
