Saban was also in his 70s, probably a little tired, and yet he still was busting his arse and pushing the right message down their throats and he almost willed that 2023 team to a national championship with Jalen Milroe at QB. And we won the SEC that year.
Also look at Cignetti and how crisp, disciplined, and dominant his teams are. It can be done in this era, it just takes a will to do it by the coach.

The offensive showing was nice. The RPO slant to the freshman Morgan was mouth watering Tua/Sark esque. I'm also assuming last night was our best run performance against a P4 team under DeBoer (excluding QB runs).
Now let's hope that defensive performance was a blip on the radar.

KD has the cupboard of running backs plus keelon that is all the difference. ive harped so hard for two years how god awful our running backs were and noone listened. Jam miller was the worst of the worst. you cant even compare him to crowells left shoe

It’s nice to get objective perspectives.
The guy is 7-1 against Sark/Lanning/Kirby.
Coming into the SEC, following in CNS’s shadow, and he wins 11 games, goes to Atlanta, the Playoffs, wins a Playoff game, makes the Rose Bowl, then has Bama looking formidable in all 3 phases off to a 3-0 start with an impressive beatdown of UK on the road and 44-15 over FSU after the first 8 minutes of the game, all this on the heels of taking Washington to the National Championship game, and being 2-1 vs King Kirby since arriving to T-Town, and yes, a large % of the fanbase wants him fired.
With the NIL/Transfer Portal/Playoff Era, domination like Coach Saban had (and Kirby was working towards) are over.
If Bamaa fans aren’t content with 10-2 and Playoffs most every season then we deserve for him to leave and get stuck with a much lesser coach who (even if he screams loudly and looks angry cursing on the sidelines) will eventually let the bottom fallout the way LSU fans hoped DeBoer would, but it simply hasn’t happened.
It’s a shame it’s like that. In today’s era, all that matters is winning, and that’s what the guy is doing.

I spent 6 hrs in Newton Co jail after that game. My fine to get out of jail was 212 dollars. Which just by coincidence was the exact amount i had in my wallet.
Still a fun memory compared to some others.

A large percentage of his roster at Indiana the last two seasons came with him from JMU. So while they were transfers, they had played for Cignetti for 4 or 5 seasons. Those guys did not have to learn a whole new system under a new head coach with all new faces.
I think that is evidence that continuity and development is just as important, maybe more so, then recruiting stars.

He's a good coach. He's going to do well at Bama. He isn't Saban and people knock him for it. That isn't his fault.

He's going to have do something about his OC and the slow starts. When they get going, they are very good. But you can't do that against the top teams. Maybe it's just growing pains right now due to how young they are on that side of the ball. Defensively, I'm not too worried. That side of the ball has mostly been the most consistent side since he's been here. 1 bad game doesn't change that. FSU also had two weeks to prepare for this game. Still, defense completely crapped the bed this game.
All in all, DeBoer is a good coach with some flaws right now. If he can ever fix his flaws, which he has plenty of time to do, then he can move up another status. He's only been a D1 coach for 7 seasons and 5 of those at the P4/P5, yet he already has conference championship and national championship appearances. I don't know who Alabama could've gotten that was better. He was the best candidate available that actually had some accomplishments on his resume. People say Kiffin, but Kiffin has nothing even close to the resume as DeBoer and he's been coaching 8 seasons longer at the D1 level than DeBoer.
