So Bama fans are good now? For most of the 1st half, they were calling for Deboer's head.
Enjoy the win. It was well earned. Hopefully Deboer can fix the slow starts before the real meat of the schedule starts.

Deboer’s biggest issue is that he is not Saban. Hopefully the fans will get over that. He definitely has a running game this year and and the type of o-line that he wants for his offense. If they can get over the slow starts it should be a fun year…

He's a good coach.
His track record says you're gonna sweat it out a lot in games you felt you were gonna win before kickoff.
At this point, I don't see how anyone can argue that. That's not just at Bama these two plus years. Very true at every FBS school he's coached.

Maybe. He’s also going to beat you if you are ranked in the top 10. Multiple times even. Can’t argue with his record against Sark, Lanning and Kirby…I’ll take it.

The thing is that losing to bad teams, which he has done at least once in his two seasons, takes one of those top tens away. And you guys were smoked in two of your last three games last year. Not competitive. You beat OU which was kind of a mirror of your team. But you lost to them as well.
I'm with Finebaum on this. Good coach. Maybe he could win a title in the B1G. He's just not a Bama guy. Doesn't fit in the South. Probably will never win one at Bama.

Deboer is a good coach who likely isn’t a great fit for the SEC. As someone also mentioned he has a lot of close games even against inferior opponents. It is what it is. No, I don’t think he will ever win a national championship at Alabama but I also don’t think he will be here more than five years I suspect he will move to a different job or even NFL.

I was/am rooting for DeBoer. But his teams are too undisciplined and inconsistent to win a championship.
There are entire quarters and halves that leave you scratching your head, and then they show him on the tv looking just as confused as I am.
So far he mostly wins. And we ended up winning fairly big yesterday. But dear god the first 28 minutes of that game was a shitshow.

Me too but what he does worked in the PAC 12 but won’t work here. He’s a good coach and I suspect he will win the SEC before he leaves but a national championship is unlikely. Eventually you will lose the close games.

That was also true for Saban’s teams once NIL and the unlimited transfer portal came to be. I think that is one of the main reasons he retired, he realized the game had fundamentally changed and because of his age he didn’t want to have to adapt to it like he did when spread offenses and hurry up offenses became prevalent.
Sloppy play, poor team chemistry, and atrocious offensive line play are a feature of this new era of football, not a bug.
It is not surprising. Every year you have huge numbers of players who are first year players learning a new system under new coaches with a bunch of teammates they have never played with before.
It is expected that freshmen who play will make significant improvements as the season progresses and they get more experience. The same seems to be true for many first year transfers as well.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I still think it's possible for for KD to win a championship. I think hes smart enough to know it will be bc he has a Washington type crazy QB/RB/WR combo that can just outscore everyone like 2019 LSU did which is why hes gone all-in on those positions. Hes not some Kirbyesque 11 win a season coach, but he could definitely put together some lightning in a bottle season.
Maybe it's Russell/Crowell/Brooks/Williams/Morgan? That group could easily be the #1 offense in the country next year.

We also don't play a slightly weaker schedule like Georgia does every year. It's a little harder to win at Alabama or LSU no matter who the coach is.

Bingo! That is what people don’t want to admit about Saban and why he got out. They just want to sh** on DeBoer. You can’t coach em like you could in the past. Kirby has come back to earth in the NIL era as far as nattys. You hurt their feelings and they transfer….

That is TBD. He won 11 games last season. He has won 11 games or more in 3 of his 4 seasons as a P4 coach. As a college head coach, he has won 11 or more games in 8 of his 11 full seasons.
We don’t really know what he will end up doing at Alabama yet. He gets compared to Kirby and Saban, so that alone says he is a good coach. It is popular to bag on him for only winning 9 games his first season at Alabama. But, that was more wins than Saban had in his first season at LSU or Alabama, and more than Kirby had in his first season at Georgia.
