He was smiling when he called Ty to congratulate him and reports have come out that the Rams told Ty's dad they were going to draft him back in December. So, yeah, McVay definitely knew it was happening.
Once the McDuffie trade was finalized, it was likely a done deal. There are still plenty of weapons available for Stafford in the next few rounds.
