In that situation, would you rather:

A) Get the ball back down 5 or 7, with 1:17 left, and 2 timeouts, your own 30 yard line

B) Get the ball back with 30 seconds, with no timeouts, down 2 points, your own 30 yard line

I think I'd like Huepel's decision under normal circumstances. However, Arkansas was playing with a backup QB and the center was struggling to get the ball to him consistently.

Our starting kicker was aslo injured.

And we were running with a backup true freshman RB.

With those factors included, I don't think they should have allowed the TD

Poor decision making from a guy who should choose a salad every now and again.

Right move. It's not even guaranteed that you hold them to a field goal the way they were moving. So if you give up a TD on 3rd down, then you really screwed yourself

I think it was a great decision. I think more teams should do that when we play them.

In that scenario, you still get the ball back down 1 score, 1:07 or so left, but no timeouts.

We could have gotten a first down without a TD but that was probably the least likely outcome

Yes. And earlier in the game, too

Its the first time ive seen it done, but realistically with all the rule changes to benefit offense in football it should be done way more often.

End of game clock management is critical, and having the ball with a chance to score to win or tie is where you want to be, every time

I am sure we are gonna start seeing stand offs at the goal line. Gonna be weird to see defenders waving the offense into the end zone only for the offense to stop and take a knee at the 1

I think it’s the wrong decision. You have a backup QB that was struggling with the center and a backup kicker… out the pressure on them to make a play.

Arky only needed a FG to win. Bleed the clock and kick with little to no time left. Backup QB should have kneed it at the one.

The issue was if Arky fooled around and left say 10 seconds on the clock an penalty ends the game. So he did the only thing he could given the parameters of the situation.

The issue is he should have never been in that situation. I believe part of this is play calling trust with the OC. Golesh knew how to work well with Heupel and the current guy just is lost at times. Getting on a lead and sitting on it worked all season so when the adjustment to not just coast is needed he just can’t.

A new OC approach and replacing Martinez as DB coach needs to be on the table

Agree. Arkansas was struggling to make a FG. You have to force them to make a FG.

It was beyond stupid.

Anyone who thinks it was a good play is a moron.

If the Arkansas QB had played it correctly he would've slid before the TD and then Tenner would've been dead in the water.

Probably the right decision by Heupel. Much better than his time management on the final drive. To end up with six seconds and still two timeouts in his pocket was bad.

Take the TD…just like you take profits in the market. Put the pressure on a team that hasn’t done anything through the air all night
