Yeah, my point is that Day is still a good coach by almost any standard you'd like to use.
MC beat him this year but is only in a semi to this point. Some on here are already anointing him as elite.
As I said in another post, based on recent success over the last few years, Day is the second best coach in college football.

He’s an elite roster builder. Not much of a schemer. He’s the exact opposite of Heupel or Mullen,

And WHERE did he get THAT from???

He’s gonna have to win a title and then back it up with another one before I consider him “elite”.
Ryan Day is not elite.
Sark and Kiffin are not elite.
Dan Lanning is not elite.
Kirby Smart is elite.

MC is the new fashizzle because he beat a coach that's overrated and blows games constantly which is exactly what MC has been known to do over and over. Make it make sense.
I think the reality is that SOMEBODY, whether or not they fit our idea of an "elite coach," has to win these playoff games, conference championships, and natties, and that it takes a while for our perception to catch up to reality.
Last year, Ryan Day was on the hottest seat imaginable, humiliated in his loss to Michigan, a total laughingstock online etc. This year, he's a national championship winning coach (that did get knocked down a peg here TBH) and can keep coming back to that bullet point on his resume. But, I still think of him as the laughingstock from last year. It just takes a while for things to sink in.
Nobody can take these wins away...Mario has some horrible coaching decisions, but now it's getting balanced by an elite win. And that was DEFINITELY an elite win.

Whether he is clueless or not is up for debate but he certainly has facial expressions that make it look that way. Could just be like resting b-face.

You're arguing with someone who uses the word fashizzle...
