Actually, it shows how special Alabama is when Saban couldn't get to back to back 10 win seasons in 5 years at LSU when he hasn't had fewer than 10 in any season at Bama after the first one.

He had to build up the LSU program as some guy from up North.

When he came to Alabama, he was already a proven commodity in the SEC with a national championship ring and a stint as an NFL head coach.

This is probably off topic but I would say this about college coaches and the NFL.

Chip Kelly > Nick Saban in the NFL
Matt Rhule > Nick Saban in the NFL

However, Nick Saban > Matt Rhule & Chip Kelly in College Football

Furthermore, the enigma I’m trying to solve is wtf happened to Chip Kelly post NFL?

Oregon Chip Kelly > UCLA Chip Kelly

He was literally a pioneer of the hurry up no huddle (HUNH) offense which is still known to put up points. He can’t recruit?

One day I can see Matt Rhule in the SEC if he has a chip Kelly type nfl career.

No. Too much corruption. Hell, we backed into the only one he had here.

His offense isn't nearly as effective since the offensive revolution in college football IMO.

Same with Jimbo.

Of course- After his natty in 2003, if he stays at LSU he wins in 2006 and 2007 (Back to Back), then he wins again in 2011 because he would not have had to face himself. Saban also wins 1 between 2011 and 2019 and lets add 2019.

Total he would have about 6 at LSU (what a hell of a deal). We have 3 in that time period, just imagine 3 more. That would be 6 in 20 years. That would have been a 30% rate of Natty's

Jimbo runs a pro style offense, I did notice his SEC adjustment was running the QB in shotgun vs under center more, real boring grind the clock offense, needs more explosive plays

Chip ran an Air Raid, like we had under Sumlin, more explosive, more points usually but a lot of 3 and outs your defense gets tired, his Bruins have games where they explode vs conference play but very inconsistent, maybe Chip can’t recruit

considering Alabama is traditionally the only road block for LSU as of late

That is an LSU talking point only. Mississippi, Auburn and A&M have as many of more wins against Alabama as LSU in the last 10 years.

And LSU has AVERAGED finishing third or fourth in the SECw since 2008, not second. They have lost games to A&M, Mississippi, M. State, Missouri, Florida, Arkansas, Auburn in the SEC… they are hardly the main competition to Alabama.

LSU has usually been a good solid SEC team…true… I hate it but Auburn has been a much bigger thorn in Alabama’s side.

Maybe. I think he needed his failure in the NFL to become the legend he is. 70-80% of what he has done is my prediction for what.

I would take him back in a heartbeat. Instantly become better while making your top target weaker!! I am an LSU Tiger fan, not a grudge holding bitch. Any LSU fan that says they wouldn't is a liar, a crying bitch, but most likely both.

I think his style gets a lot of three and outs like you said meanwhile the other teams are scoring more than ever before.

It isn't so much his scheme that isn't working these days, more the approach with which he runs it.

I think you'll see Leach at State run into the same types of issues.

This is all I remember about playing Leach in the Big 12, his offense was putting up points with QB’s that weren’t even ranked by recruit services, with the exception of Harrell.

2006, 2007, 2008 - Graham Harrell - 4 star prospect
2005 – Cody Hodges, NR
2004 – Sonny Cumbie, NR
2003 – B.J. Symons, NR
2002 – Kliff Kingsbury, NR
2001 – Kliff Kingsbury, NR
2000 – Kliff Kingsbury, NR

When he has his offense book 100% in at State, it’s going to put up numbers, just maybe not consistently, and I think KJ Costello is best (highest) recruit Leach has ever had too, but then you get into a hope/potential vs reality discussion

No. LSU isn’t capable of what Saban has done in Tuscaloosa. How is that not obvious?

Alabama is everyone’s roadblock. How is that an “LSU talking point only”

Also no need to throw the fourth in there. Our average finish since 08 is 2.46th. My math could be off there though

We have won a National Championship with both of his successors, I think it’s obvious he could have won a couple more as well.

Probably would have had 8 or 9. No one would have built Bama into a juggernaut so it would really just be LSU running the thing.

Always the fricking excuses!
Why won't you people just man up to the proven facts!
