Could Saban have had the same success if he never left LSU?

I say yes.

Dude had already built a great foundation, I mean just at look what Mediocre Miles did with what Saban built.

He would've spent 2005-2007 building up the program and possibly won another title or two instead of wasting two years in the NFL and a year getting Alabama back on track.

I expect he would've kept all Louisiana talent home and built a superteam.

Whoever Alabama hired to replace Shula couldn't have competed with that, no one could've.

We have won a National Championship with both of his successors, I think it’s obvious he could have won a couple more as well.

Easily could reach similar levels, especially considering Alabama is traditionally the only road block for LSU as of late and he is the primary reason for that.

Because LSU is not Bama, and never will be.

I think he did mature a bit as an X’s and O’s Coach in the NFL but overall, yes easily and there’s literally no reason to think he wouldn’t have

But what if Saban never leaves LSU and continues his career there, and Alabama wanders the wilderness while he continues to feed the beast?

What does Saban have at Alabama that he didn't have at LSU?

From one troll to another, there has to be at least some level of truth to the troll for it to be effective

I think he WAS and would have CONTINUED TO BE successful at LSU. I think he learned a lot there and I also think he learned in his attempt at Miami. Never underestimate the value of the Miami experience to hone his skills. He is STILL learning after all these years in Tuscaloosa. You have to if you want to be successful

I'm not sure. He was losing a couple games each year that he shouldn't and the LSU faithful were getting restless. Only when he left, did everyone realize we still wanted him, but it was too late.

Alabama wins 1 or 2 from 08-20. Stallings won in 92 and close in 1994.

Stallings better coach than Coach O or Miles.

Of course he would have.

If Miles can win a national championship with Saban's players, surely Saban would have won as well.

The same success? No probably not, and that is not an indictment on LSU.

The way it all went down with him getting to Bama was an instant surge that catapulted them. It was a perfect storm.

I don't think that type of thing would have happened if he just stayed at LSU. He would have still had a ton of success at LSU though. Reverse the roles, and I think it would have been similar. If he was at Bama and then went to LSU in the same manner, I think LSU would have had similar success to what Bama has had.

I'd agree, just like how LSU won 2 from 2007-2019. But Saban's head start at building LSU would be too much for Alabama to overcome during his tenure, if he stayed in BR.

shite did you see what his successor was able to do? If that guy was able to win a natty, make it to another, and win 70% of his games, then we’d be the college football program if Saban never left

Michigan, Miami, USC, Texas, Nebraska, etc should be proof that the name of the program means far less than who is running it.

Bama is Bama because of Bear, Stallings and Saban. Not the other way around.

Potentially but so many variables exist. What does Urban Meyer do facing Saban every year? After Shula's replacement, does Bama hire somebody like Jimbo or like Will Muschamp?
