Wrong. All they have to do is determine that the Newton's were soliciting the pay for play, which has basically already been proven. We're not talking about what has to happen for Auburn to get put on probation, we're talking about Newton not playing.
Not mention all they have to do is show that Cecil had contact with an agent (Rogers).
There are numerous ways Cam is f'd.

considering Bell confirmed last night Newton did ask for money
Contacted Thursday night by ESPN.com, Bell confirmed that Cecil Newton did ask for money in exchange for Cam Newton signing with Mississippi State. Bell said he was contacted by the NCAA about the matter and spoke to an investigator earlier this week.
"That's all I want to say about it at this point," Bell told ESPN.com.
Weird...
Here it says Rogers contacted Bell...
quote:
He said he was referred to a Mississippi State booster named Bill Bell. Rogers said he left Bell a message telling him he was with Cecil Newton, who wanted to know if the deal was going to happen.

again read the one part posted below as it is now fact Both guys in the middle of this have confirmed each others story why would they lie?
All it confirms is that Bell said that he was contacted on behalf of Newton by Rogers and Rogers said he contacted Bell for Newton. That much was confirmed. There is no direct quote from Bell that says Newton contacted him personally.
It still doesn't prove that Newton put Rogers up to it. Rogers very well could have done this on his on trying to scheme money from Bell and MSU for claiming to rep Newton.

so two auburn boosters/former players get together and come up with a story saying TR was payed and that he called them to see if auburn would pay, but has no proof of it happening, that means alabama and TR are fricked? no, it means its just factless rumors.

All you have is Bell saying Newton asked for money. Nothing said he talked to Newton.
I, on the other hand, linked you 2 articles that both said Rogers contacted Bell on behalf of Cecil Newton asking for money.

quote:I know what we are talking about, but people assume that because the letter of the rule says solicitation is against NCAA rules that perpetual ineligibility is automatically assumed. I don't know if it is or isn't, but an attorney in Montgomerey, who may be the foremost attorney in defending players/schools against the NCAA, went on record as saying he didn't believe solicitation is enough to rule a player ineligible.
Wrong. All they have to do is determine that the Newton's were soliciting the pay for play, which has basically already been proven. We're not talking about what has to happen for Auburn to get put on probation, we're talking about Newton not playing.

Rogers said it himself in the interview yesterday that he and Newton stopped at a Shell station on Hwy 82 and that Rogers called and left a voicemail for Bell asking if the deal was still on. Rogers and his lawyer know that this voicemail exist so they went ahead and went public with it.

Testimony is not worthless. The point I'm trying to make is that the way the report is worded doesn't show that Newton contacted Bell personally. It just says that Bell confirms he was contacted by Rogers and Rogers says he contacted Bell. Nothing there says Cecil Newton contacted Bell and the accusation that hasn't been proven is that Cecil Newton put Rodgers up to it. Whether that's true or not, no one knows at this point, but I wouldn't take Rogers word whole heartedly just yet due to his reputation.

For you maybe, but it's hilarious if you think the NCAA needs any of that to decide that Newton is ineligible. Ask us about Lester Earl sometime.

Do you think it's really as tenuous as that?
Don't Cam's Dad and KR have some sort of established relationship over the last year or two?
KR was running a business too wasn't he? If his job was placing players then why would be sabotage that and put himself in the cross-hairs of the law just to hurt Cam or Auburn?

one thing interesting here is that from what i understand even if MSU is the school who would have had to pay the money the fact it was discussed make newton ineligible period. Does not matter whether its Auburn or MSU that gets hit newton as a player has become ineligible and Auburn risks a lot by playing him from what i am reading they would recieve penalties much heavier than scholarship losses and bowl bans..

Whether or not money exchanged hands, Newton is an inelgible player if his father asked for money.
