Any argument that implies that Fromm is a better football player than Fields is seriously misguided.
The argument is that Fromm was better for UGA that year in that offense. Fromm threw for 300+, 3 TD’s, and 0 int’s in the SECC against bama. Unless you think a frosh fields would’ve done better, Fromm gave UGA the best chance of winning that game. I agree Fields had more potential, but that was irrelevant when the main issue was who gave UGA the best chance of winning that game with that offensive scheme. It’s insane to me ppl act like Fields would’ve made UGA’s 2019 offense good. No one was making those WRs and Coley’s offense look good.

Mark wasn’t a terrible recruiting coach but wasn’t elite. A lot of his classes were 27-30 strong and not individually as high as the sum total.

Lol...Mark Richt didn't go 3-1 against Florida his first 4 tries, either.
Ron Zook was 2-1 against Georgia. Your point?
If only beating the Gators measures success, congrats on having a great coach! That too will end.

Maybe. Fields never actually got a real shot. I would also argue that any college offense that runs better with Fromm than Fields is flawed schematically.
Did Fromm give UGA a better chance at beating Bama that day? Probably.
Did playing Fromm over Fields give UGA a better chance at winning a national championship between 2018 and 2020? Absolutely not.

He would have almost certainly made it better. Fromm was average last year, regardless of offense.

Georgia fans are awfully sensitive whenever this comparison is brought up.
I wonder why

Only when Kirby leaves.

Mark Richt was 46-10 (26-8) at this point in his tenure at Georgia from 2001 through the first four games of 2005. Kirby Smart is 47-13 (28-8) through the same time period. If Georgia fails to win the SEC this year he will have fallen behind Richt's pace. I'm sure questions will then start to arise as to whether or not Smart can get the Bulldogs over that final hump. Maybe Georgia isn't meant to be a national power if that turns out to be the case?
The one thing that is lost in these data points is the atmosphere is more difficult IMO now than then. Kirby has been an upgrade over Richt but probably not as much as uga fans would have hoped.

I don’t recall Richt playing in the natty in his first 5 years...
Kirby only made it because he avoided Bama in the SECCG

I agree. That’s not the question though. The question was which QB gave UGA a better chance at winning that year.

Fromm have UGA a better chance at a championship in 2018.

Fromm did for 2018. You don’t punt on a season just because you think a freshman MIGHT be better.
For 2019? No one was making Coley’s offense look good. Fields doesn’t magically make UGA beat LSU that year.
For 2020? Of course. Fromm isn’t here lol

Bama wasn’t good enough to make it to the SECC in 2017 then got placed in the playoff despite going 1-1 against ranked opponents that year.

Because it's a retarded premise to begin with. Oh no, he and Richt have a similar record their first 5 years. It must mean that Kirby will never win a national championship or even an SEC championship the next ten years.

Richt didn't recruit near the level of Kirby. Georgia is just a QB away, they've made the necessary changes with the offensive staff; I can't think of any team other than Bama, OSU, or Clemson that wouldn't trade places with them now. Look at how they reloaded so easily after losing so much talent on the OL

If it were so retarded, I would think Georgia posters would have no trouble ignoring the comparison.
But here we are on page 3 with 75% of DawgRant RTFU

You know where we're at, right? And just responding to a poster doesn't mean people are RTFU. It's possible to actually respond and not be mad at someone.

Oh look, another appearance of the stupid SECRant conondrum "If you respond you're mad"
Fact: Butch was 14-15 in 29 games, Pruitt is 15-14.
Does it mean Butch is as good of a coach for UT?
It's the same thing except they're both good.

My point is, Mark Richt was 5-10 against Florida despite having to face Zook and McElwain who were bookends between Meyer and Muschamp. Kirby already has a better record vs. UF in his first 3 years...and if we win this year, it'll be the first time we've won 4 in a row since 1980-1983.
