WTF is Illinois doing that high ?
Illinois doesn't play Michigan, Oregon and Penn State.
Illinois is ranked higher than Michigan...
Means that the B1G is already jockeying for a minimum of a 5th playoff berth.

Don’t think anyone actually think Texas or Ohio state are the two best teams … they just have enough talent and softer schedules than the rest of the teams . Texas lost a ton they are basically returning one OL no qb, te several star defensive players gone also.

Oklahoma is being massively underrated imo. If I was going to rate the SEC based on how I think it shakes out as of now
Tier 1
Texas
UGA
Tier 2
LSU
Oklahoma
Ole Miss
Bama
Tier 3
Tennessee
Florida
South Carolina

FOX Sports and the two conferences want you to watch #1 vs. #2.
Arch Manning, $$$, $$$ and more $$$.
J D Vance will likely do the coin toss.
The hype will probably be off of the charts.

We all know how this story will end

No.
Even if they do well, they still gotta earn it.

You are replying to the voted on worst poster on this board and a known Texas hater. I promise you he isn't capable of a coherent back and forth so Dont waste your time

Illinois did beat an overrated South Carolina.

Agree. Texas will take some lumps. Talented for sure but arch will be humbled some.

Bielema’s pouting when they get their 1st round beat down could be entertaining, I guess? That’s about all Illinois will bring to the playoffs if they get in.

Yeah .... welcome to the SEC.
That's the rule in this league every season.

So #1 @ #2 to start the season.
Not a bad way to kick it off.

This is insane. When has a team with a new starting QB ever been voted #1?
This is not the Texas brand at work, this is the Manning brand.

Clem with 2 #1 votes, how nice, Dabo and who else?? hmm, BK perhaps?

It’s not official until Texas is AP #1. AP has more historical relevance and is often more regarded than the Coaches.

There is an insane amount of arch hype going around, on top of fox wanting to bring in as much rating money as possible.
Regardless, Texas is definitely a top team in the country.
The only thing that makes me question the list has more to do with so many new QBs with little to no starting experience. As a fan, that would make me nervous

They were the last 2 years but before that not at all. We’ll see if they can sustain or wilt. It can happen to anyone.

I would bet a lot that if you took the last 15 preseason polls, and located where Texas is, that probably 14 or so of those 15 polls they finished the season below where there preseason rank was. It's the same thing ever year.

How many times in the last 15 years has Texas been a preseason Top 10 team, and then finished far below their preseason rank? I would say probably 13 or 14 of the last 15 years they have finished below their preseason rank. Notoriously overrated annualy.
