I've heard some fans say 8-4 gets him fired
There's no way 8-4 gets him fired with the extension he signed before last season. 8-4 or 7-5 would, however, make his seat very hot for the 2022 season. The only thing that would get him fired this year would be a losing season (maybe) and/or something non-football related with the Title IX stuff

It's crazy to me that people are talking about canning him after his great 2019 season. But I'm also a UGA fan and we put up with mediocrity for decades

There already has been a ton of title ix issues with Guice. I honestly think 8-4 will do it. Maybe he makes it to 2023 idk though, you saw what keeping Les did for you.

I'm not saying what I think should happen but rather what I think would happen

Hypothetical, O is fired. I think Matt Campbell is the best football coach not at a major program.

Nothing really related to O though.

So why don't any of the excuses and asterisks that LSU fans like to toss around about last season apply to ol' Ed?
They do.
His seat isn't anywhere close to as hot as it could be if he went .500 in a normal season.
Miles went 9-3 in the regular season the year before he was fired.

LSU is a tolerant. Perform like Les and O will be golden.

No one knows if this guy even outruns the long arm of the law. One day soon both Orgeron and Will Wade could be packing their stuff up together. It's a cesspool down there.

If O gets canned, who would y’all want. What are a few names you’d be interested in?
Just stop.... this is dumb.

Can Campbell do what he does at a place like LSU. Campbell does well with the 3 star guys and gets them to play extremely hard. Could he coach the ultra talented recruits that LSU gets? The Tigers will always have a wealth of talent, but it seems some coaches styles fit better with the less talented players.

What’s dumb about it? Just the question posed, hypothetically

not gonna address the dumb takes like the "long arm of the law" BS
but to answer your question billy napier would be offered and would be 1a, 1b, 1c. He would accept too.

Campbell is a good coach but I would hold off on that talk. Great season last year but he was .500 in 4 Seasons prior. It's Iowa State but still that's not exactly "best football coach" kind of numbers. I don't see Campbell scaring anyone.
Personally the guy that would make me most nervous would be someone like getting Gundy from OSU. He would be a decent cultural fit and he's a damn good coach that does a lot with limited talent. Luke Fickell would also be a great hire.

I just don’t know if he’d fit. He’s a good coach, especially on the offensive side. But, he’s pretty quirky off the field. He’s similar to leach from a personality standpoint.

He gets almost a free pass for 2020* because of all the unique circumstances *. He's back on the clock now. Anything less than a ten win season and the grumbling will be pretty noticeable. If there is a system meltdown like with our defense last year, I would not put my money on him. That said, I expect this to be a good to great team and expect it to come down to the game against Alabama.

5 losses and he’s gone. 4 and we’re talking seriously in trouble
