Response thread? Pity SoG .... you're one of my favorite Bama posters.
Some threads introduce a strain of logical analysis that needs to be applied to another, similar situation to see if the logic is sound.

He left two #2ranked classes for O.
Now go look at how many of those players actually played for LSU and what positions they played.
My point stands.

LSU's roster was mega loaded compared to what was left for Kirby
I wasn't comparing anything to Georgia...

Man hasn't been DC exclusively I'm I used to be beast but yea I'm excited to seem vs Aranda this yr
I would Give it a year.
I an Very concerned about our DE with Thomas gone and Chaisson to the draft.
We have been recruiting a lot of long BOLB types and they haven’t really filled out to 4-3 DEs.

You refer to Kirby/Richt? Yeah, Kirby is better.

Yes, Miles inherited more talent than anyone and LSU produced more draft picks than even Bama during his tenure, so his "achievements" of two SEC titles and the only two-loss NC of the modern era don't measure up to that. He sucked, and got bailed out over and over by pure luck and superior talent. Any mediocre coach could've done better in his situation

In what manner?

No they weren't. He inherited a loaded roster and stumbled into one SEC title and the only two-loss NC ever. Ridiculous comparison
Its not like LSU ever has a shite roster, your state is loaded and top 10 recruiting classes, from 1-10, aren't that much different IMO. Of course 1-20 or 10-40 would be a significant difference.

If they battled it out on Jeopardy I wonder what the final score would be?

O doesn’t need luck to win games

but a lot of you keep telling us that LSU makes the coach, and that Saban has nothing to do with the championships after him
can't be both

Ensminger's passing game in 2018 was right there with the two best years that Miles ever put up in regards to throwing the ball (2007,2013).
That's despite Ensminger being forced to play a quarterback who'd only been there a month and had no chemistry with his team or coaches.
Also a turnstyle offensive line and receivers that dropped 10% of the passes thrown to them.
All that, and his passing game was right up there with the best results Miles ever had.

Gotcha... You're right... He had one of the best defenses I've ever seen back in 2011.

I don't see a substantial difference
34-7 > 34-6
2019 season alone is quite telling.
15-0 and dominated teams.
Heisman Trophy
multitude of player and team awards.
Tigers currently making a major impact in the SEC west.

Any high school coach could've a) realized that putting run first QBs into a 1970s Big Ten offense wasn't a good use of LSU's talent b) had better clock management than Miles did (2009 OM, 2010 TN, etc.)
How can you suck so badly that you continually put out one of the worst offenses in the conference at a place like LSU? And make untold millions for that no less

The difference is in recruiting and vision.
Les Miles' first three classes at LSU were not good. Way too much attrition in those classes, and of course he created the QB problem that plagued LSU for years to come during that time. I could elaborate with specifics, but his first two (full) classes exemplify this trend (06/07): A crap ton of players who never played or didn't finish at LSU, and only one QB, who turned out to be pretty bad (Jarrett Lee).
On top of that, Les had zero vision for the direction of the program. His entire philosophy was to put more talent on the field than the other team and win by default. This worked when he had Saban's players, but ... and in light of his terrible recruiting classes from 2006-2007, the bottom fell out once they were gone. That dynamic, plus the Ryan Perrilloux fiasco, is the primary reason that LSU had a substantial dropoff in 2008 and 2009.
To Les' credit, he did regroup and recruit some legitimately awesome classes between 2009 and 2011. He completely rebuilt the team around defensive guys like Mathieu, Reed, and Mingo. Those years were the best LSU got from Les Miles. After 2011, LSU regressed into the latter-day Miles teams, where Alabama's defenses were literally calling out our plays to us before we ran them.
Anyways, this is a long post, but the recruiting prowess and vision for the program that Ed O has displayed is night and day different from Les Miles. Things could certainly go poorly from here -- sure -- but so far so good. LSU didn't just win a national title, it has a new identity as a program, and that's a reason for LSU fans to be very enthusiastic moving forward.
