You gotta give O points for trying.

I didn’t love the trial and error approach but it doesn’t really matter now. We got to where we want to be. Hopefully we can maintain it.

All thanks to Saban

The 2006 roster especially was fricking loaded

Anyway, Miles when the program was his own players was a solid, lets say 14th in the country type of program

2011 was the exception, not the rule

he was trying to move away from Miles/Cameron ineptitude

That’s great—he failed on that attempt. It regressed. He made a change the next year to Ensminger, who got it back to the miles era offense.

I’m not knocking O here. He played with what he had. But to act like he just walked in and had nothing to work with and miles was responsible for all of it is funny at the very least.

Don’t forget that Cam Cameron was a much bigger name than Canada or Brady for that matter.

But at least O made effort to get the LSU offense out of the stone age.

He deserves more hate for all the millions he made and LSU produced more draft picks than Bama during his tenure yet we usually weren't even a close second to them.

The draft picks sorta flipped once Saban showed up and started pumping out draft classes.

Even a decent coach could've had much more success. We're just now getting out of the shadow of his legacy of offensive suck enough to be able to recruit elite QBs

It’s amazing no other “decent” coaches really did any better.

During Miles tenure there are exactly 2 coaches who more NCs than him. Urban and Saban. 2 of the best ever.

The talent along both lines had noticeably decreased.

He left two #2ranked classes for O.

LSU's roster was mega loaded compared to what was left for Kirby

I would say the distinction is the 2019 team under Orgeron was one of the best ever

Lol yeah... in year 3. His first attempt took us a step back. His next attempt was Ensminger, who was back to the run and button hook play calling that Cameron had.

Miles was a good coach, a better coach in his first 3 seasons than his last for sure. But he went all in on becoming a caricature after the 2007 title. It was all about his zany pressers and insistence on wearing jackets in 100 degree weather and less about QB recruiting and player development. Not to mention absurd loyalty to underperforming staff and players, refusal to adapt offensively, poor OL recruiting evals, and by the end it just felt like everything had passed him by.

Granted, he failed at first, but at least he tried. Can't really say that about the coach that preceded him.

He’s just pointing out how stupid the other thread/topic is. He’s not complaining about LSU

Mikes’ refusal to update the offense is why he was fired.

He was pretty good at pretty much every other part of the job. He just couldn’t get out of his own way on offense.

O took the good parts of Miles tenure and basically just said “I’ll do whatever it takes to find the right guy to run this offense”
