This is fricking crazy. Thought Barnes was a lock for the future. He grew up in NC.

$3.1M in Knoxville is roughly $5.5M in Los Angeles according to Nerd Wallet.

It seems weird as hell to all of us but who the hell knows? We're used to weird shite happening to us.

@latbbolch · 2m That account I retweeted was fake but my source isn't. I have been told it's looking like Rick Barnes is headed to UCLA but it's not 100% confirmed.

Back stroking much? The account was fake, but the source is real but it's not a 100% sure thing.

I'm thinking he's trying to get more money for his coaches. Guess we'll see soon enough.

If you go back in his twitter timeline that LA TIMES guy has reported a deal was being finalized for damn near everyone UCLA has talked to.

Barnes has a good thing going at UT. He's not as charismatic as Pearl was, but he's winning with good solid coaching. I can't see why he'd choose to live and work in LA and work like a dog to try to bring back a dormant blue blood program?

Yeah but Westwood is awesome...he's 10 minutes to the beach and he gets some In N' Out Burger right off campus.

They were paying Alford $2,647,000 which ranked 33rd in the nation. Again, UCLA is cheap

And they just offered Calipari $8 million and recently opened up a $25 million basketball practice facility not cheap!

Perhaps the premier practice facility in the country.

Sorry I meant Calipari LINK

But the point still stands about UCLA not being cheap when it comes to basketball.

I’m from Nashville and my wife is born and raised in Knox. It’s not bad. I enjoy east TN. But there isn’t much to do outside of the outdoors.

Don’t get me wrong, I love hunting, fishing, camping, hiking much more than city life.

I’m just saying. Knoxville itself is just sort of meh if you’re not a UT student. Not bad, not great.
