It’s a little early to rush to judgement

Kiffin inherited a much larger shite show at Ole Miss after getting buttf*cked by NCAA.... and went to the Sugar Bowl.
Kelly inherited a blue blood CFB program coming off a National Championship.
Kelly is a fraud.

I don't follow LSU super close, but it seems some fans are not happy with his recruiting.
Not sure what that's all about, but if there's merit to their complaints, that is concerning for his prospects in the 3-5 year range.
In 2024 class, Kelly currently has 10 of the top 15 Louisiana recruits committed to LSU.
Kelly's biggest mistake thus far was winning the West in year 1 and setting the expectations way higher than was originally planned for what was expected to be a 3 year rebuild.
If the wheels fall off LSU rest of this season or they still look bad defensively next year, I'll begin to worry.

It depends on how he handles the problems on defense. It’s not an issue that’s going to be solved this season, so LSU fans can forget about it. Obviously, he’s doing something right with the offense. It’s only year 2. Firing him now would set the program back in a bad way.

Nope, I’ll make up my mind after year 4.
Very curious on what coaching changes we make in offseason

I think he is undoubtedly a better coach than Ed O, who won a championship there.
The key difference is Kelly is a micromanager, while Orgeron is a recruiter who let his assistants run the program.
He had Dave Arranda and Joe Brady and won a NC because they're both great at calling plays on their side of the ball and Ed brought it good players.
Even if Kelly hired those types of assistants, he's not he kind of coach to let them have free reign. And that's why I think it's very unlikely he wins a title at the FBS level. But LSU will often be good, just not championship worthy.
When we go to 12 team playoffs, he'll have LSU at the bottom end of the playoffs quite regularly.

to be a head coach at lsu is simple.........recruit the best........set yourself up with the two best coordinators.......pop your lawn chair up at practice and enjoy.
Not anymore. Pre-NIL and transfer portal? Sure. Now? You better be able to develop players.

There is nobody I would pick right now at $10 mil / year besides Saban or Kirby. So i think disappointed is inevitable

You haven't won a NC this decade. How can you get "another"?

Kelly isnt Kiffen and Kiffen aint all that. But Kelly is better than Sark at Texas. Difference is Big 12 football & preparation VS SEC.
A bit too early to know for sure. I was happy LSU hired him consider his failure against Top 25 teams.
If he wasn't paid $10M/year it wouldnt look so bad. Believe me, Aggies know....
Biggest difference to me is that Jimbo is a $100M recruiter. Kelly doesnt seem to be a great recruiter and is overpaid if so.

Nope.
I do think this is his last “grace” year though. The program was in shambles when he arrived, and we all knew last year would be a patchwork effort as part of a total rebuild. I’m okay accepting the idea that in year 2 we might still be struggling with talent and plugging gaps, though it is difficult to say how much of the struggles are talent and how much are poor coaching or scheme (and there is evidence of the latter). But by year 3 there should be no more excuses for that.
I’m still long-term optimistic, though obviously a lot of the higher goals for this year are shot.

How do LSU fans feel about Robert Steeples?

He's probably not elite. But he wins everywhere he goes
He was 92-40 at Notre Dame. That is a 69.7% winning percentage.
He is 13-6 at LSU. That is a 68.4% winning percentage.
If you look at his entire head coaching career he is 276-102-2. That is a 72.6% winning percentage.
I am not sure why every expected him to suddenly start winning 90% of his games.
