Former NBA player Antonio Blakeney was named but not charged in the indictment. Blakeney allegedly was part of the group that recruited players to participate in the scheme and offered bribes, and he has been charged separately. Blakeney was a star at LSU before playing two seasons with the Chicago Bulls (2017-19). He has since played overseas in China and Israel.

The crooks targeting these tiny programs that no one ever bets on, so that large bets stand out like a sour thumb. Good strategy.

The players allegedly accepted bribes, often ranging from $10,000 to $30,000 per game, to underperform or influence the point spread during the 2022-2023 and 2024-2025 seasons.

Blakeney's invovlement appears to be regarding fixing games in China, not college basketball games here. The next paragraph reads

quote:

The scheme, according to the 70-page indictment, began around September 2022 and initially focused on fixing Chinese Basketball Association games, where Blakeney was a leading scorer. Blakeney allegedly manipulated his own performance and recruited other players from his team to join.

who knows. whatever the case, something has to be done regarding gambling in sports. it's become a pretty damn big problem and that's just what has come out publicly

See where the Florida man killed his wife and family before himself after going to a rage following an NFL game.

Sports gambling is the devil.

I don't gamble at all, not even raffles. I keep thinking about what those Roman soldiers were doing at the foot of the cross.
