Technically, Bama has only lost to Southern Miss 5 times. Bama had to forfeit the 93 game because a player signed a napkin.

Hasn't LSU lost to Tulane 22 times?

About as surprised as I am that LSU has lost to Rice 13 times and tied them 5 more. It’s the same situation, really. Bama has played USM more frequently than any other OOC opponent, so they’ve definitely had their opportunities to pull a couple upsets. I’m actually glad the game is back on the schedule this year.

Fun fact: Our longest win streak vs Southern Miss (11), matches our longest win streak vs LSU.

Southern Miss used to be the thorn in the side of a lot of SEC teams. They beat Alabama, Auburn, and UGA in the 1990s. Others too, maybe, but those are the ones I know.

Why are all the Bammers bringing up LSU in a topic about Southern Miss and Alabama?

Seems I remember Southern Miss had a pretty decent quarterback in the late 80s, early 90s...

Meh. Not really. They win 1 time out of 8 or 9 attempts. Not really an issue.

Or in the case of Ole Miss, 1 of every 4 attempts.

You felt bad enough about it that you tried to downplay how much they've beaten you.

I swear they had a pretty good QB back when I was a kid. Who was that guy again...?

He was there when they notched a win or two against Alabama.

It's right on the tip of my tongue (which is FIRMLY in my cheek, fwiw)...

I'm surprised it's not more. USM was pesky as shite during the 80s-early 2000s and we played every damn season.

It's kind of wild we went 8-1 vs USM from 1997 to 2007 given how bad we were and how solid USM was most of those years.

Alabama and USM played 23 times between 1980 and 2005. And then USM got too big for their britches, fired Bower, got a home game with Nebraska and decided they would only play Alabama if they got a 2 for 1.
