Lining up from the 25 is bad enough, but going for two after the second overtime just flat out sucks. This just turns it into a back yard game instead of a real football game. It favors the team with the better receivers. What's so bad about the NFL's extra quarter?

Keep all the same rules as they used to be but start at the 40 instead of the 25. don't see why they can't just do that.

I used to hate the NFL OT rules. I like the change they made where both teams get a shot, if the first team with possession doesn’t get a TD. The new changes to college OT suck. I would like to see them at least change it the ball starting at the 40.

They should start at midfield so that you at least have to advance the ball to have a shot at a FG.

I don't like it either, but blame modern offenses. The snap counts getting in the 80s+ with regularity, it does become a player safety issue at some point to limit plays.

On top of that they have to swap ends of the field after each series.

I wish they would just start at the 50.

That way you have to get Atleast a first down or 15 yards to get in FG range. A lot of kickers would have to get to the 30 for FG range so would require 20 yards gained to kick a FG

Starting at the 25 you are already in FG range

It just seems so damn simple, but CFB people are stupid.

Require an offense to get at least 1 first down to score. You wouldn't have to worry about what to do in the 7th overtime because these games aren't going to reach that point.

Well if we really are all about player safety then why are we even on the field at all? Nothing is safer than a snap count of zero.

It’s such a simple fix but they refuse to consider it

Yes it is
Wait till a playoff game is decided this way
I like the start at 40 instead of 25
That makes it harder for a field goal
During regular season I don't see why you just don't end it in a tie after a certain point

This, the current set up is horrible.

Harsin should have gone for 2 after our TD in OT 1. Our guys were spent after D was on field for 85-90 plays already. Bring out your best two pointer and see what happens. The loss would still suck but you lost it with you being in control.

I'm imagining a National Title game coming down to these penalty kick-esque abortions, and I no longer feel safe and secure.

I totally agree but would've been pissed watching the game end on a fade

This was mentioned in the Iron Bowl. It was said that Bama averages +/-85 plays per game and Auburn averages +/-55 per game.

I still think the new rules suck.
