CBS deems LSU an 'overrated' SEC team entering 2024 season
Can't say I disagree...
quote:
Four of CBS’ panelists predicted LSU would finish sixth in the SEC, while three had the Tigers seventh. One had the Tigers finishing ninth.
quote:
The Tigers lost their top passer, top two rushers, top two receivers and offensive coordinator from a team that finished outside of the top 10 last season.
quote:
That would certainly be a bit of a disappointment given the preseason expectations for this LSU team, but it’s also hard to know how things will shake out in an SEC that’s now pretty crowded at 16 teams with quite a few of them vying for postseason spots.
Can't say I disagree...

They've got more questions going into the season than they usually have, but they are still pretty loaded. They'll be fine, probably win 9-10 games.

Those question marks aren't what tiger fans are worried about.

From a quick google search of Shehan Jeyarajah and Will Backus... I dont think either of these two queefs have ever played a sport in their lives. Would assume the 4 "panelist" that voted are quite similar. Tigers on Top

If BK can go 9-3 and not win the division with the Heisman trophy qb, imagine what he can do with this year's team

Yet win it in his first year when the same qb didn't win the Heisman.

What expectations? I haven't seen shite that has said we would be a top team

Last year was the year if we only had an above average defense. Not sure what to expect this year?

Your fans? You didn't see Creighton man's poll last week that had them going 12-0?

I'm curious what sensible LSU fans are predicting for this season.
Most of the ones on this site seem to assume their QB and offense won't have much of a drop-off because of.. reasons.
Also not sure what the reasonable expectation is for the defense to be leaps and bounds better than last year.

All I see is people saying LSU will finish just inside or just outside the playoffs.
Maybe that’s SLIGHTLY overrated but certainly not enough to make a segment about it.
Alabama should be on the list. They needed several freak miracles (particularly from Koy Moore, Auburn’s DL, and Jordan Travis) to even fumble into the playoffs, and they still have a shite QB and no longer have the GOAT coaching on the sidelines.
But they’re still top 5. If only one of those 3 miracles doesn’t happen they wouldn’t have made the playoffs. Bama needed ALL 3.

I don' have LSU ranked SUPER high, but it has pracically nothing to do with actually them themselves. It's more so other teams simply being higher.
UGA, Texas, Bama are automatic at the top. Ole Miss is right up there too. I have no reason to put LSU above Tennessee at this juncture. Right there off the bat that's 5 teams so LSU is looking at 6th at best. Then when you look at OU/Missouri/LSU in that next tier, ti's hard to truly differentiate one being any better than the others.
In other words...I can easily see a scenario where LSU is ranked 8th without it being an indictment on them or saying they suck. This is simply what happens when you keep expanding and brining in good programs.
