It's true that use of foreign substances like spider tack are pretty widespread right now, but it's nowhere close to true that, "everyone is doing it."
I think it’s somewhere in between
I’ve got a buddy who is a weekend starter for a current ranked team and asked him about it.
He said Mracna is definitely using something, but also said “you’d be surprised by how many are doing it across college baseball”

I hope you don’t have kids.
But your response doesn’t surprise me in the least, considering the source. Hook ‘em horns and all, baby.

UGA is only good at football not much else.

Why do you think Skenes grabs his hat before every pitch?
Posted on 4/29/24 at 10:20 am to tylerdurden24
I don’t believe there is an addendum in the rule book that says “foreign substance are okay as long as you aren’t throwing curveballs”. What the frick are you even talking about? He was using a foreign substance to assist him. It’s a violation.

Schloss commented on this today on the radio. I find this all very interesting.
-Doesn't rile me up
-People in our profession are very nieve when it comes to what's at stake at this level
-Brings up how Chris Lemonis was on the hot seat to start the year after winning a title 2 years ago.
-My point is, this league is starting to mirror the big leagues (trying to gain every edge)
-We had sneaky video guys moving around the stadium (had that around this weekend), planted cameras, and microphones in dugouts.
-It is high-level stuff.
-Trying to get a grip on the ball is part of baseball.
-Was on a call with SEC about whether the league should implement substance checks like the bigs and if so, how you do it.
-I have never seen Jace, Braden, and Burton all strike out in an inning (on the same pitch).
-If that is the case, why aren't we doing it.
-We put guys out there on watch to make sure it doesn't happen (in reference to video, I think)
-I pretty much know Tanner Jones was tipping his pitches (guy UGA lit up for 9)
-College baseball doesn't have the money to have tech that is controlled (MLB has its own portal where all teams have some data, no live feeds)
-School in our league got busted for a live feed going to the dugout. (not saying who) but they have crazy home/road splits.
-live info directly in the dugout is the line.
-A&M is going to pitchcom on offense next year to avoid more sign stealing (Schloss gives the signs now).
Most of the rest is on different topics so I will stop here.

And it happens all the time. If your coach can catch a guy in the act, he’s suspended 4 games, but A&M didn’t bother checking him.
I honestly think the actual A&M players and coaches care way less than the fans. They know that they’ve faced dozens of other guys who’ve used stuff this season and there’s a good chance some A&M pitchers have used stuff too. Any baseball player knows it’s part of the game. If you can catch him in the act, good for you. If you can’t, oh well.
It’s exactly like MLB before they cracked down. Lots of guys using it. If you could catch a guy in the act, that was fine, but it’s not some massive scandal. Just part of the game. There were actually several hitters who came out and said they wanted pitchers to be able to use something so they would have better control and not worry about getting one to the dome with a 100 MPH fastball.

Man, just stop. Yes, there are players in every sport who cheat, but this was embarrassingly bad. Quit defending it.

I cant believe I just read that.
Next thing you know you will be hearing about pitchers that want to pitch to corked bats again.

if you didn't know before.. you know now.. watch that Skenes video above and start watching pitchers in every game.. like I said, once you see it, you see it pretty much with every pitcher.. in every game.. on every pitch
I'm sure there are some that don't do it.. but it's eye opening once you start watching that one specific thing.. I honestly wish I hadn't seen it years ago because I start focusing on it..
like was said above.. lots of hitters actually favor a pitcher being allowed to use it because it gives them better control..
Is that what the Georgia was using? Idk. Maybe it was something different, but considering he was throwing mostly heat.. It wouldn't really make sense for it to be something else.

You don't have to believe it.. but that doesn't make it not true.. I'll try to find you a quote on it. It's 100% true.

Sorry pal, you don’t know what you’re talking about
There are a TON of hitters who were against the ban on sticky stuff
quote:
I use pine tar on my bat so the bat doesn't slip out of my hands," Baltimore outfielder Adam Jones says. "So a pitcher can use pine tar on the ball so it doesn't hit me in the face."
Washington Nationals slugger Bryce Harper concurs.
"Absolutely," Harper says. "I'm all in favor of it. If there's a guy out there that needs it, I'm all for it. I don't want to get hit in the head or the face. So whatever they need out there, I'll let them have it."
It's true, in an era in which the average MLB fastball is well up into the 90s, many hitters support the notion that it is time for the league to approve and regulate a substance beyond rosin that is legal for pitchers to use.
"Obviously, you want a pitcher to have control of the ball," the Los Angeles Angels' Mike Trout says. "You don't want a ball up and in when everybody's throwing 100 nowadays. There's mixed feelings, obviously, throughout the clubhouse and throughout baseball with this.

Let’s see how it impacts UGA pitching the rest of the season.

And it happens all the time.
So does speeding. And underage drinking. And texting while driving. They’re still violations.
There’s a reason pitchers attempt to hide the behavior, rather than keeping a sheet of sand paper pinned to their jerseys.
I don’t particularly care about this issue one way or another; but the horns who are loudly chirping about how unreasonable it is for one team to point out the other team’s behavior are just being goofy.
No surprise, of course.

I’m confused, is he saying Georgia planted stuff in A&M’s dugout?

100%
Baseball, amongst all sports, embodies "If you're not cheating, you're not trying".
