Can Pete Golding improve or do you think he is who he is at this point?

He will have easily the most talented defense he’s ever coached next season.
Two vet NFL caliber safeties.
Multiple vet NFL caliber LBers
3 super talented CBs who will all likely play on Sundays.
He needs to dominate like UGA did defensively

Seems like an Alabama board question?
I doubt you're going to get a non-biased answer from lsu, Auburn, Georgia and Tennessee fans.

I haven’t applied there yet, because everyone thinks I’m 4horsemen.

If he smartens up he will be fine. Can’t throw 3 passes in a row when you are first and goal from the 6.

Bama doesn't have the horses in the front 7 to dominate like UGA did

Why would a defensive coordinator ever throw 3 passes in a row

U dumb.the last two years Bama has ended the year with one of the best Ds 8n the country getting better as the year went on.

His defenses seem to put it together in the later part of the year. It looks like it may be a feature at this point and not a bug.
With playoff expansion coming, perhaps having a learning curve for the defense isn't a bad strategy if it's complexity helps in January

This is the same way with Drinkwitz. He is still learning, and his staff is now set. The DC was really bad in the beginning and now seems to settle down near the end of the season. Alabama has a huge advantage with a top 5 recruiting class every year. Add good backups and depth while Drinkwitz had to find ways to get better players to replace players that isn't SEC worthy on the roster. That is why I give Drinkwitz a couple more years to get more HC experience and build the roster to have good starter, have depth, and have good backups.

Go away and put that Bama flag down

The LB will be loaded, three 1st round caliber LB will be starting next year.
Bama has solid DL, just need one to step into the superstar role. That will likely be Tim Smith.

The talent is there, no doubt. If Alabama does not dominate defensively in the coming season some questions should be asked. BUT, they had many of those same components this past year, did they not?

He is consistent. He makes me tear my hair out the first five or so games of the season, culminating in a complete defensive stinker. Then after that everything settles down and we are one of the best defenses in the country.
I think that may just be who he is.

I'm not sure what's funny about my comment. Outside of Will Anderson and Dallas Turner, UGA's front 7 was much better than what Bama brings back. Maybe you shouldn't be a blind homer and recognize other teams may be better than you.

He runs a particular kind of scheme that Saban thinks is what he needs in order to beat teams like Georgia and also teams like Oklahoma (when Lincoln Riley was the HC). It will never be dominant like the 2011 or 2016 squad but that's not the point. The point is to keep the other team from scoring as many points as Bama's offense. That's it. I'd say it's doing what it's intended to do.

Of course he can improve, but his defenses have actually been pretty damn strong lately.
We as fans may hate his lack of aggression sometimes, but our defense has really been formidable in the last 2 NCGs
He's a young guy. Experience makes everyone better. He will definitely get better every year.
