You got rid of your best coach option.

Ed O was one of you. Players loved him, recruited like hell, beat Bama and A&M, won you a Natty - and you fired him.

Kelly is grumpy old man getting more-than-Jimbo money from a yankee program that this board shits all over for their weak-arse schedule and playoff beat downs.

I’m so happy to finally not have a cartoon character as the HC, but rather someone that actually knows football.

If Kelly can recruit like LSU has historically recruited, except shore up the offensive lines, Kelly is going to win a lot here.

I can understand how you think Orgeron was a good coach based on kicking A&M’s arse again.

This part is true. He was a terrible coach until LSU hired him. I don’t know how good he will end up being but it’s definitely not a culture type fit. Not that he has to eat like them or talk like them but he’s never coached in the sec. I don’t know what to expect.

Yes, hold on. I’ll run and get an official statement from the university.

Oh, you just meant random message board posters, nvm.

To be fair, he was 4-2 vs Aggie and averaged over 40 points per game against them so I can understand why they'd think so.

He also just beat them with his scout team.

All while having his headset turned off and just being a cheer leader. I’m not so sure how much that changed from years past though.

I'm not laughing at them because they hired Brian Kelly. He's a good coach. He hasn't given me any reason to be scared of him but there's no denying he's a good coach and a solid hire, really. Maybe a touch old for what should be seen as a long-term project but that's OK.

I'm laughing at them because they're paying so much money for Brian Kelly. He's going to need to win at least three national championships at LSU to warrant that much scratch and he hasn't won his first one anywhere yet.

That isn't to say I don't think he can or will win one at LSU. He just hasn't yet.

ETA: Ok, he's not making as much money as Dennis Dodd or whoever tweeted last night but still. That's an aggy-tier contract.

Feel free to hire Ed O if you feel like he’s that good.

10 years, $95million seems about right in line with the market.

Certainly one way to characterize a last second win based off a laughable pair of no calls.

LSU doesn’t settle for mediocrity like A$M. I mean your coach’s first name is Jimbo and he is having same career as the one you fired to hire him. Y’all were hyped this year and still went 8-4 and lost to our worst team in 20 years. So just stfu until you have something to brag about loser.

I'm actually curious why he was willing to leave Notre Dame.

Were they not willing to pony up the money to match LSU? Did he start to realize that ND has sort of a self-imposed ceiling due to the fact that they refuse to play anybody?

Was it something more entertaining which may come out in the coming weeks?

Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe it was all about money, maybe not. Maybe he was just ready to move on to something new after 12 years in south bend.

He broke it on the sidelines in the 2020 Alabama game.
