Every head coach leaves every job on bad terms, unless they just retire (which is rare).

How many coaches have been left behind on the tarmac without their luggage?

How many coaches had students rioting and cursing them on campus when they left?

How many coaches went through the Saban rehab clinic and were told to leave early in the middle of a championship run?

It’s not some coincidence that the same guy keeps causing the same chaos everywhere he goes.

It’s like some who’s hot being on her fourth marriage and still having desperate guys making excuses as to why it’ll be different this time and they don’t need a prenup.

I’m not even saying the guy is a bad coach. He’s been really good at Ole Miss, but he hasn’t won anything important.

I understand LSU wanting that because yall crave the drama deep in your stones, but the fact that a guy with zero championships and this track record is holding half the SEC hostage while he makes a decision is peak 2025 CFB IMO.

If he reverts to form, the first thing he will do after he lands a new gig is to pirate all the good recruits at Ole Miss. He and Ogeron did it to U.T. The next mustard bottles aimed at his head will be coming from the Ole Miss bleachers.

We’re a Duke’s Mayo school. Brand synergy.

And allow him to recruit all these kids to his next job, which will be a team we play next season?

They are going anyway. But I wouldn’t let him coach if I was OM.

Look it up, but Elko essentially promised Duke and players he was staying when he thought A&M wasn’t offering him.

A&M then did offer when their primary target fell through, so days after Elko his promise to stay, Elko hopped an immediate late flight to Texas and notified his players he was leaving via Zoom.

That’s how you handle a coaching change in a shitty way.

not sure there is a way to leave for a conference rival and not be hated

I’d like to not pay him to do

I imagine you’d also like a playoff win and a shot at a championship. No interim is going to give you that, lane leaves prior to the playoffs and the heart of this team goes with him

Saban left on bad terms and he retired.

Saban didn’t leave LSU on bad terms. Fans weren’t happy he was leaving for the NFL, but they didn’t hate him for it.

It wasn’t until he took the Alabama job that LSU fans hated him. Even that first season, when he went 7-6, most didn’t hate him. Most celebrated it - he is a failure hahaha. But then after that second season, oh boy did the hate boil over. Twenty years later it still flows.

But, without it we wouldn’t have the SEC Rant.
