This has been explained a million times on this board. TidalSurge 1 has a writeup about it on the Recruiting thread on the Alabama page LINK.

And Bama isn't the only one doing it. This year ND, BC, & VT all have over 25 commits so far this year (and that is just on the first page of the 247 Team Rankings). Just because other teams don't do it doesn't mean they can't do it. It just takes some roster management skills that some coaches either don't have, or don't care enough to do.

I think a lot of the physical attributes can be determined by film but where I think teams may suffer is finding talented kids that don’t fit your culture. You learn a lot more about meeting with people in person and developing relationships rather than 15 miniute zoom calls.

Rivals has the barn class ranked 50. 50!! Another class like this and the barn will be fighting it out with Vandy for last place in the SEC.

For sure. Also studs fall through the cracks even in normal years. With the lack of camps I suspect that number will jump.

Also I suspect that yalls class will still be looked at as #1 in three years

But Auburn has sucked for the vast majority of their history.

Good thing Saban has never gone three years without a national championship at Alabama.

...when we suck.

Better get used to sucking because barn recruiting is embarrassing by SEC standards. Kentucky just stole a linebacker....how far down the rankings will the barn fall? The dumpster fire that is Tennessee Football is ranked higher.

Alabama recently offered a 2022 kid from Louisiana who has no stars and was previously only being recruited by Arkansas State and Louisiana-Monroe.

This whole process will no doubt be interesting to watch, in terms of which staffs can identify elite talent without nearly as much to go on.

these recruiting rankings mean nothing. I think the top schools have equal talent because of the accuracy of these high school rankings

No doubt. Alabama has 7 4/5-star tailbacks on roster. My guess is Kyle Edwards is a likely candidate since he's firmly at the bottom. Trey Sanders and Kelian Robinson would be understandable departures since they're entering year 3 with no clear path for getting on the field. Especially tough for Trey because he's had nothing but bad luck preventing him from being a big time player. He was taking away B-Rob's touches right when he got in the car wreck. Was setting himself up to be the alpha in 2021 but now it is unknown whether he will be able to hold off McClellan and Williams.

Supposedly Sark made a run at him late after taking the Texas job, but we knew, at best, there was a 1% chance he'd renege his pledge.

Kid's a bonafide stud. Very glad he's playing for the crimson in Tuscaloosa and not the crimson we play every year in the Cotton Bowl.

I like Sarkisian and would like to naively think he's an upstanding guy so I wish you wouldn't ruin it for me. After all, Saban was at least some to do with rehabbing Sarkisian's reputation, so trying to steal his recruits isn't a real good look.

Lol I mean I doubt there was a lot of negative recruiting against Bama since he was employed by them last than 3 weeks ago. He's just following up because he'll take whatever he can get when working with a transition class.

Herman did it to Sumlin's recruits in 2017. Jimbo did it to Herman's recruits in 2018. This kind of thing happens every year
