Toughest thing for me was the first time we went on a long trip after my father died. I picked up the phone to call him to let him know we made it in safely...then I remembered.

Wow, this board is so much nicer than the political board. Instead of call my mother they told me to another four letter word my mother. This after knowing my mother had passed away.

Depending on the phone you have, I'd recommend downloading them as a file to save on a computer/flash drive/cloud. I did this with a couple of my Mom's because it'd be my luck I'd damage my phone and not be able to access them.

It might depend on service provider. Verizon can help. We did this with old vm's from my brother
