So this bill would give 50% of profits from the revenue-generating sports to the athletes of those sports?

Read the entire article.
They took out the original Title IX and non-revenue sports protections.
It also states this bill is specifically targeting football and basketball because they are dominated by Black athletes.
Unbelievable.

They all produce revenue. Whether they have income is different story.
And the schools will probably be able to make a good argument that without that income, abiding by Title IX will be too much of a hardship on the athletic departments.

This is why we need for Congress to act to make a uniform law which applies to all states - otherwise you get shite like this.

Bill will die in committee. The ADs will lobby it away…the schools have billions into developing their programs and next years athlete would need to compensate the program for program development cost …
