QB Sacks through week 8

33 Byrum Brown Auburn (SEC)
20 Keelon Russell Alabama (SEC)
19 Beau Pribula Virginia (ACC)
19 Demond Williams Jr. Washington (Big Ten)
18 Alessio Milivojevic Michigan State (Big Ten)
17 Ashton Daniels Florida State (ACC)
17 Arch Manning Texas (SEC)
17 Jaden Craig TCU (Big 12)

Byrum Brown’s 33 sacks through eight games puts him on an historic pace for both his own career and college football history. Projecting out to a full 12-game regular season, he is on pace for 49.5 sacks, which would rank near the absolute highest totals ever recorded in the sport.

No one with a functioning set of eyes and even a passing awareness that the game of football exists and it’s common for universities to have teams that play it weekly during the later part of each year has ever said this.

and best decision maker under center.

Same here.

If the triage unit continues upfront, Russell will make a push for the regular season title

I'm telling you, this current logjam in the top half of the SEC is going to be greatly impacted by the injury situation for all these teams. LSU can't afford much more either. Our defense is trying to hold steady despite two huge losses there (Weeks and Spears).

Half of the sacks Russell has taken is because he won’t throw the ball away when needed.

Half seems strong, but yes, he has held the ball too long when he should have run or thrown it away quite a bit. That is also expected from a young QB.

That will improve with his feel for pressure and growth in the position. But, the immediate problem is depth and shared # of snaps by the current Bama OL. It has affected playcalling and balance. Point is, Russell will have to speed up the learning curve if the OL continues to weaken up front. Unfortunately, that isn't as easy as flipping the proverbial switch.

Need to hang a banner for that, print cups, tshirts, and if it weren't true we would def need to claim it and hang a banner for it, cups, tshirts, rinse, repeat

Even better, Byrum Brown has already had his bye and several on that list haven't yet. He's gonna eat that record up.
