You need a Bye before Arkansas clearly

Thanks Bama. You clearly benefit from the physicality of LSU/Bama then turning around and playing Arkansas the next week.

It seems to be working for Bama as of late. Saying that, I'm hoping the tigers will turn that tide (no pun intended) this year.

This is one of the most often repeated, but completely false, avowals we encounter on the SECr. Time to retire the word "kids" when referring to college students.

Lol good luck with that.

Until the L5U fanbase stops obsessing over Saban then it will never happen.

I am pretty sure the schools schedule their own bye/non conference game weeks, then get the SEC's final approval

I thought the SEC set the SEC schedule, then it was up to the schools to schedule their non conference games in the remaining open weeks. I mean the SEC schedule is set through 2025. I know Bama's non conference schedule is not set through then.

Correct, then schools fill in the gaps with non conference and bye weeks. the SEC has final approval of the bye weeks, but does not set them

not really, just the opponents, not the dates

Just because they have muscles, that doesn't make them mature adults.

For the same reason Alabama has had their bye week before LSU for the last umpteen years. It's usually a hard fought physical game.

Because that is absolute bullshite. This is not "just another game". This game is massive and to pretend like it isn't is foolish.

Problem with that is Alabama doesn't have to deal with the mental aspect (losing) of the game very often..seriously.

If anything I take it as a point of pride that Bama feels the need to schedule their bye week right before LSU every year as well. Now if only we could do something about the results

Why do we continue to do this? It's clearly not working. Why not change it up a bit? Stop putting so much pressure on these kids and emphasis on this game. Let's just try to instill in these kids that Bama is just another game. Maybe that'll work. K thx bye

I think it would benefit LSU more to have the bye week AFTER that game. It's such an emotional contest that there's a natural let down, win or lose, for either team the next week.

Com'on Pink. Quit using that implied excuse-ridden wave-off term "kids." These are not "kids" in any way. They are legally adults. They can be drafted, fight wars, beat the heck out of each other.

You are just using a term as an excuse for whatever behavior by saying in effect "anyone who is not a mature adult (please define THAT whopper-of-a-description) is a 'kid.'"

No, they are NOT "kids." I recommend you and everyone else just find some other term.

But it is. The game is kids against kids. Bama kids aren't super human. Just coached better.

They most certainly aren't, but that game has been a bigger part of deciding the west than any other conference game

I love when it is. Saban spoke of it a couple y ears ago and said his goal is to get through 3/4 of the schedule, and we are usually out of gas by the time November gets here but that week enables us to re-focus and heal up for the stretch run. Its been very effective.

As far as LSU goes, the fans, players media everybody tells the team all year you HAVE to beat Bama, you HAVE to beat Bama. They come into that game so tight you couldn't drive a nail up there. The game is hardly talked about in Bama. Its not nearly talked about like Auburn is. Its why a couple of years we have struggled with Auburn honestly. For LSU, our players are just more relaxed. Lets be honest. For LSU this isn't about beating Alabama as much as beating Saban. As long as this game is the end all be all for LSU not only will they continue losing to Bama but it keeps them losing to Ole Miss and Arkie as well. Those 2 games just flat don't matter to LSU and they should. But, it hasn't changed in 10 years so LSU will continue obsessing and probably continue losing. Even Miles obsesses about beating Saban.

On Bama though, the bye week comes at a great time to hit that stretch run and its been a HUGE factor in our 4 out of 7.
