The main reason we all hope he goes is because we think it would be funny for it to happen to LSU. No one is scared of him. He's a pretty good coach but thus far in his 20+ years of coaching hasn't ever been a threat to the truly elite and that's just a fact. Whether you like it or not.

This is true of pretty much all of the coaches out there, outside of maybe 4 or 5.

Bama is different because they've been so dominant.
But in general I think most of us would concede LSU is a good job and a turnip could probably win 9 games at LSU. Nobody is particularly scared of Brian Kelly and I don't think any fan base on this board is particularly jealous of LSU having him. He'll probably continue to do good to very good for LSU, but so will most LSU hires.
But, Kelly leaving would frustrate LSU and turnover often means setbacks. Which all of us would enjoy, though none of us expect it to actually happen.

Kelly should scare people. He has two 10 win seasons back to back after starting with a very depleted roster. He put together a great LSU offense this year but some bad luck led to depleted back 7 on D which cost him the play offs and possibly a NC. He is slinging some nice coaches and recruiting together in a chaotic portal/ NIL environment and there is optimism. There is also some great competition out there. I like our chances with CBK.

This has less to do with how good anyone outside of LSU thinks he is and everything to do with the meltdown that would follow.
