I know some games are played as 7 inning games, usually in a double header.

Is this by mutual agreement of the coaches, or does the league get involved in this?

Aggy wasn't gonna score 5 runs in 2 minutes.

Mingione made sure the 9th inning didn't start. If the 9th inning started, they would have been required to finish it. The rule states no new inning can start after 4:30. That doesn't mean the game gets stopped at 4:30 regardless of what's going on.

A&M had a 4 run inning and a 5 run inning this past weekend. A 10-5 lead wasn't insurmountable. Mingione knew that too and didn't want to leave to chance, so he stalled to make sure the 8th inning ended at 4:30 or later, and the curfew rule was called. I think that's kind of the definition of a bush league. Bush league moves generally aren't against the rules, which is why people call them bush league. Teams do this shite with impending rain delays all the time, either to get a pitcher who's killing them out or to prevent the game from going 5 innings. Someone pulled the latter in a game last year. Can't remember exactly the situation but someone was getting rocked, rain was coming, team stalled, game called in the 4th inning, wasn't made up, so it didn't count as a win/loss for either team.

length of SEC games is set by rule. In OOC games it's by mutual agreement between the schools.

If a game is a double header in the SEC on day 3, they have to be 7 inning games by rule. If a game2 is resumed from a previous day, then game 3, by rule, will be a 7 inning game regardless of what inning the other game is in when resumed.

So it's strictly a day 3 rule.

This weekend Texas just played two 9 inning games back-to-back but it was on day 2.

Well, I guess Kentucky is admitting they have to take whatever wins they can get.

The only thing that would've been better is if the pitcher fell down and held his hammy.

what’s the official rule on when an inning starts? is it immediately at the end of the 8th or is it when the pitch clock starts on the 9th?

A&M didn't lose, they literally just ran out of time.

With this being 2025, and the players taking mostly on line classes these days, that is a stupid rule.
And if they are going to keep it then mandate all Sunday games start at 12 Noon local time. Game should not get cut short because of an arbitrary time rule.
Needs to be eliminated.

As soon as the 8th inning ends, the new inning (9th) is started.

So Yes, makes it seem like a very bush league move in that case.

I think it’s smart. In fact I would be frustrated if my coach didn’t take advantage of it.

It’s not his fault there is a dumb rule in place.

Baseball is a poor sport or we would all have 25 full scholarships.
