Bruce is the reason bama started taking basketball serious. You’re welcome.

Bama is the third winningest program in the SEC and perennially has an average attendance near the top. What exactly did Bama start doing differently after Auburn got Pearl?

ETA: In 2009 Bama fired the coach who got them further in the tournament than anyone had, until this year.

You can argue it all you want, but Bruce is 100% the reason bama has had any success in basketball. It wasn’t until “little brother” achieved something bama hadn’t that y’all woke up. The majority of your fan base didn’t even realize you were in the final four. Like I said, You’re welcome. Oats is a prick but a great coach.

You Barn figs are a stupid lot, you realize Oats was hired before Barn even played in the Sweet Sixteen that year?

So no, it wasn’t a reaction to your miraculous F4 run you stupid frick.

This year is the only time he's made the tournament at Auburn and got eliminated before the second round. Not counting the COVID year (which he would have 100% made the tournament at 25–6 with the SEC-T still left to play), he's gone five out of nine years, and five of the past six. But his Final Four run was the only time he's done better than that. He had an oddly slow start, given the expectations when he was hired.

Considering Auburn isn't a "basketball school," he's really doing pretty good. But he's not as consistently good as he was at Tennessee, and it's not like they're known for basketball, either. I'm afraid he may have raised the bar at Auburn to a place he can't even reach himself at this rate.

For as much hype that he gets throughout the sport - one sweet 16 or beyond in ten years isn’t good. I don’t care if it’s at Auburn or Tennessee.

haha so mad. 20 tourney appearances in previous century. 4 out of the last 5 with Oats. There's a pretty big difference in those two measured successes. Bama fans can't ever say anything critical about their precious tide.

It’s been a hell of a run, but what’s your point? You don’t actually seem to have one.

And you have to deflect regarding your 100% factually incorrect statement that Bama hired Oats and got serious in answer to Bruce’s miracle run.

Yea Bama got serious by hiring a longtime high school coach and 4 year coach at Buffalo in answer to Auburn getting out of the 2nd round on March 27, 2019. You are so dumb, the epitome of a new barn basketball fan

Is this true? That doesn’t seem ideal.
Bruce is a great basketball coach. I’d take him at Texas.

In his 5 Tournaments, Auburn was seeded 4, 5, 2, 9, and 4.

If expectations are met from a seed standpoint, that should have produced 8 NCAA Tournament wins. During this period, Auburn has 7.

That’s just slightly under expectations. Would have been nice to have several deep runs, but coming up one game shy of what were expectations is not necessarily all that egregious.

I think what’s more important is the fact that Bruce has taken a previously dead program to 5 of the last 6 NCAA Tournaments, and had it not been for covid it would be 6 of the last 7.

That’s a remarkable accomplishment.

And FYI, doing this same exercise for Oats shows he’s under performed in the Tournament even more so from a seeding standpoint.

As a 2, 6, 1, and 4 seed, Oats should have 10 NCAA Tournament wins if he had simply met expectations…. He has just 8. So he’s -2.

They love calling everyone new basketball fans when that's exactly what they are. They have zero objectivity or knowledge of the sport. If they could've just scored some more touchdowns last night they would've won.

The Auburn Family mob has arrived. They are happy with Bruce. Noted.

The bar is low so Bruce gets a pass. That sums up Auburn athletics pretty well.

Hilarious isn’t it. Literally not a peep out of them between Yale and last night. Now that Bama lost they can breathe a sigh of relief and come back out of hiding

I think everyone here is just genuinely confused by how retarded you are: not Auburn or Pearl, but you personally. Your hill to die on is that Bama changed what they were doing because Auburn hired Pearl. This issue is apparently very important to you, yet you haven’t been able to point to one thing Bama has done differently. There have been some bad arguments on both sides with this thread, but you seem to be the only person who’s simply incapable of forming an argument, even a bad one. Serious question: are you always clearly the dumbest person in a group or is today an anomaly?
