Here is my question, y’all think BK “recruited” JD back, knowing one of his QB’s would transfer in doing so? If so, that’s kinda cool and lot of faith he has on JD to win games next year.

Yeah, probably.

Most of us expected Nussmeier to transfer. Howard made his decision so quickly that I think some conversations were had and it was well known that Daniels and Nussmeier were staying. Howard didn't want to run practice team again, which is a shame. He would have built relationships with some incredible WR's this year.

Because JD is, I think Kelly has a lot of faith in JD.

I could see him making a leap this season, he's gotten used to the Kelly system I'm guessing now, so there is no reason for him to drop next year

JD will succeed this season

I don't know. I think we had that last year because we had a horrible offensive line from go and our OC was comfortable with Daniels after coaching Ridder.

Even looking at his 2014 OC season at ND, his QB was Everett Golson and he ran him a lot. It's just the type of OC he is - he wants that athletic QB. And he's been successful with that.

The mystery will always be if Daniels is getting happy feet or are those designed QB runs, even delayed QB draws. If it’s happy feet, it’s boom or bust depending if he makes the play imo. If he busts, his fan base let him hear it lol

Really putting a lot of stock in a 1 point win in OT. With an illegal play at that.

Yeah, it’s telling that Kelly felt better keeping Daniels than rolling with a new QB. I guess Nuss and Howard still need development.

I mean he did win 10 games and the west with Daniels at QB. It’s not hard to see the potential although he is going to have to be ok taking chances to ever get there.

Someone said something like, he would of been a 3rd/4th rounder if he went to the draft this year. I think he would of tested very well at the combine, especially this year with everyone drooling over Anthony Richardson. Athleticism matters at the NFL.

With that said, I also don’t think JD went back to LSU if he didn’t think he could improve his draft stock, in a year Caleb Williams is probably the first QB taken. I personally like the guy, but do I think he can be a 1st Round QB? That’s very optimistic, but I don’t even know what to he needs to truly improve on. Has he hit his college ceiling or no?

i always think of a post from the rant where someone said theyd never seen a QB try to throw a touchdown every snap

Nuss is probably the only QB who could've made Cam Cameron's one vertical-pass play scheme look brilliant.

Some sources were picking him middle of the draft. Good call on him coming back, he needs a little more work IMO.

Yup. Good college QB but definitely not first round material. Kelly needs a known quantity and Daniels gets one last year to develop.

I don't blame Kelly but there was something more going on with Bech, Howard & Kelly. It was wild how Bech just disappeared last year. Wasn't surprised at all that Howard left after Bech did. Just wish it hadn't been Ole Miss but it's good for the rivalry, I guess.

A little bit of both.

Daniels can throw accurately. He's struggled to throw receivers open.

His RB's weren't great. His offensive line started rough. He got used to doing everything himself, and for 10 games that worked well enough.
