I think MSU should hire Chizik..
Experienced. Very familiar with SEC. Winner. Mature.
No reason to go get some flash in the pan that is not familiar with the SEC or has not been a head coach.
If Chiz is motivated he could be a very good fit at MSU.

10-3 2014
9-4 2015
9-4 2017 (technically 8-4 but I’ll give him the bowl win since it was his team).
He averaged 7.5 wins a year

Napier signed a contract extension this week.
I doubt he would done UL that dirty if he was talking to MSU.

Did he sign it? Or was a signing just announced?

If a kid wants out, Tom MArs will get him out.
Several recruits made it clear that Moorhead or nothing. You pushed the rumors out and let it be known that Moorhead was retained. Then all of the sudden he's magically fired after signing day. All Mars is going to have to do is threaten a law suit.
You actually think your AD is going to say to a player they don't care? The stench from that would be worse than this. That's a recruiting nightmare.

I mean not really. We hired a guy that lost weight instead of putting it on. Our previous coach didn't have a motorcycle wreck/affair with a second rate volleyball player.
That's true, but the recruiting and program results are the same outcome.
You made a mistake, my opinion, but it's one everybody will let you make and we all hope you come out better for it.

Why would Tom Mars care or be involved at all?
Try to keep up: Of course recruits will leave. Some will be granted release and others will have to have some answers. The original point was some reb stating that recruits could now just bolt, and that's not factual

Says he hasn't signed but still would be pretty dirty to agree to it one day and back out the next. UL can pay him pretty good money I suspect.

Four days before his team plays in its second bowl in two years, UL has confirmed that Ragin' Cajuns coach Billy Napier has agreed to a two-year contract extension.
A UL spokesman said the extension is on top of the one-year extension Napier received in October, meaning his new deal will now run through the end of the 2025 season.
With the contract not yet signed by all involved parties, however, financial terms of the deal, including any new buyout provisions, were not immediately disclosed.
"I'm extremely humbled," Napier said on Thursday afternoon, shortly after flying into Mobile for Monday night's LendingTree Bowl.

Moorhead had to have seen this coming.
Can't sneak anything past that chameleon-eyed bastard.

We have seen almost out right revolts from half of the SEC fanbases over the past 5 yrs.
Nobody wants to be a bottom feeder in this league and when other schools start making changes it forces your hand. The SEC is a competitive league with rabid fans flush with cash. See with Luke at OM, Chad at Arky, etc fans felt comfortable with letting Moorhead beat them and non conf. for 6-7 wins and give him time to see if he could build something.
But now you have Kiffin at OM and Arkansas hired a guy who is getting good coordinators, and you’re staring at the possibility of 3-4 wins next year knowing the shitshow we had this year isn’t going to keep winning against those programs. So it goes from “can we compete with A&M and Auburn to get 8-9 wins” to “can we even win a SEC game”

Doesn't Tom Mars work for the NCAA now?
Posted on 1/3/20 at 10:14 am to Jjdoc
We can't recruit good wide receivers, so just get Jeff Monken and drive DC's with only a week to prepare crazy.

Unless the agreement included a statement about "Unless an SEC job comes open"
This whole Napier extension thing is just fodder for reporters on fan sites

So odd to wait this long. Was there any financial benefit in waiting to let him go contract wise? I just can't believe they'd wait this long unless 1) it was too expensive to fire earlier or 2) they've been back channeling to get their replacement and it took a while to line it up.

Well he owns them, so maybe he's just managing his assets

But he didn't win 8 every year like suggested.
