Initially to say NO, but if it puts more football on TV I'm ok with it.
+1
Hell, we have to go damn near 7 months with no football at all, so I watch everything even the lower tier bowls.

No. No one is making you watch them.

Much rather see a 6-6 SEC or Power 5 bowl game over a 10-2 Northern Illinois playing in the GoDaddy Bowl.

You take away 6-6 and you take away money that is poured into Power 5 conferences. And ESPN gets more viewership instead of showing an old episode of 30 for 30. And because of that, it's never going to happen.

I'd love to see the number of bowls reduced. However, people fail to see bowls (except for 3) for what they are, glorified exhibition games. Nothing more, nothing less. Regardless of if you win the Tax Slayer Bowl or not, the ultimate result is still the same for both participants. The season ends. The fact that there is ANY other factor in the teams selection criteria other than on-field merit proves that these games are just "for show".

Just enjoy them for what they are, the last chance to watch live college football for 8 months.

No more than four teams in the Power 5 and the other conference champions should go bowling, period.

That's 26 teams. Plenty.

Less football makes zero sense. Why take away football games? So, ESPN can put terrible soccer or other awful sports on.

Yes or No?

Yes, back when there was 11 games 6-5 was fine but I think every team needs to have a winning record to play in one.

Everytime you see one of those bowl games on TV, a percentage of that is going to NCAA offices.

I read the entire article you linked. Just to be sure, I ran a search for the words "bowl" and "bowls". The search produced no results.

No. Once in a blue moon those lower tier bowls will turn out to be a pretty damned good game...

Yes

But it won't happen...our society wants everyone to get participation trophies now.

It used to be an honor to get invited to a bowl game.

Yes.

And don't worry. I'm guessing we'll be back down to 30 bowls (or less) by the end of the decade.

Some of these games make no financial sense. They will fold when they lose their current sponsors. No one can lose money forever.

NO

P5's would need 8 of 12 wins in the regular season to qualify
G5's would need 9 of 12 wins in the regular season to qualify

Will never happen tho as long as ESPN has CFB by the nuts with a GI Joe Kung Fu Death Grip ™

Yes.

Bowl also should loose their Non-profit status, that would make a bunch of them go away.

Why don't you suggest cutting back regular season games too?

The bowls are fine, it's more football. They're not holding a fricking gun to your head and making you watch. I have yet to find someone who's had their life made worse by having 6-6 teams in bowls.

Why exactly do you guys get so butthurt about people going to bowl games? You act like you passed out at an Aggie frat party.
