I get the shite talk but $2 million is a lot to pay for Pelini as a DC when he hasn't been a DC since 2007.

We're planning on paying for it with profits from sales of the "Geaux Beaux" tshirts baw.

That and some money from OLOL.

$2M a year for Bo Pelini? Did Auburn negotiate the contract for LSU?

He was getting $1.5M a year from Nebraska up until March of 2019 plus another $300k/yr from Youngstown St.

Not sure what else people expected for a top DC who has been a HC for the last decade+. The top DCs make in the low-mid $2M range now.

I still say Nebraska should have given Pelini another couple seasons. He’s definitely an intense motivator.

Is he a top DC right now? If not, why pay him like it.

They never lost more than 9 games if I remember correctly. They would kill to have that now.

“Is he any better than what we have now?”

Agree. He had Nebraska consistently winning 9-10 games a year. I’m sure if they could do it over again they’d keep him.

As an LSU fan I can't really second guess Coach O right now. I have no idea if it's a good hire or not since he's been away from the Power 5 and being a DC for so long.

He was the last time he was a DC, he's been a HC making even a lot more than mostly the last 10 years. Not sure again what you expected. The guy had 3 elite defenses at LSU back in 2005-7, and was making close to $2M/yr while at Youngstown St. between his pay there and Nebraska payout. I'm sure he wasn't looking for a massive pay cut. This is $500k less a year than what we were paying our previous DC.

LSU has hired a proven National Championship winning DC. How many championships has Kevin Steele won again?

I have some reservations about the hire but he’s certainly comparable to other SECW DCs.

I prefer an up and comer to a retread, it if we’re going to retread we could do A LOT worse than Bo.

The only in that range are Steele,Venables
and Elko I believe

I wouldn't consider Steele or Elko a top
DC

It does seem high. I was expecting no more than about $1.5M/yr but I don't know what LSU's budget is. It looks like the 85 scholarship PLAYERS made almost $60M last year

Fixed that for you

You're welcome

Great system where Orgeron can cash in based on the merits of 85 guys that are artificially capped by the NCAA

But why in the hell does Pellini get to cash in and become he highest paid DC in CFB, what the hell has Pellinin done in the last 10 years to merit that kind of windfall

BTW $60 Million sounds low ,a program like LSU should gross about $125 million from FB alone

I'm not sure how much they profit from FB since all Athl Depts use creative accounting to show break-even or a small loss to try and quell the players demand for a fair piece of the economic pie

The rest of the LSU fans will be here shortly to tell you how wrong you are. After they delete their post history talking trash about Bo Pelini.

And Aranda was doing it for a few years before leaving here, again, so the top paid DCs are in the $2M-$2.5M range now.
