Problem is most SEC fans here are too young and/or have no connection to the old Big 8 and now the Big 12 to understand how atrocious K State football was before Snyder.

Jordy Nelson

They plucked him straight off of a tractor and turned him into an All Pro/Pro Bowl NFL WR

Don't forget the Locketts either.

They’re the #2 program in KANSAS, competing in a power 5 conference, and at one point had six 11 win seasons in a seven year period.

I don’t think it’s an overstatement to say he’s the best coach in college football history.

Snyder is a coaching legend and rightfully so. How he could of done at Lsu is anyones guess, but it doesn't take away from the mans accomplishments.

He's a total class act as well. Got to meet him in Lubbock after a game last year. Great representative for the game

Pretty much this. Could he have turned LSU into a national title contender year in and year out? In his prime you'd have to like his chances to pull that off with the recruiting footprint that LSU has.

Its always hard to gauge how someone would have done had they been hired at a school. Arkansas, for various reasons, missed out on hiring Bear Bryant, Barry Switzer, Jimmy Johnson, and Pete Carroll. All of whom wanted the job but for different reasons weren't hired. Hell add Mike Leach to that list... twice!

Who can tell how things would have gone had the past been different?

They fired Archer in 1990 and Hallman in 1994. It must have been one or both of those years. Joe Dean hired Dinardo.

I am old enough to remember

Snyder putting them on the map may not have been Moses parting the Red Sea but only because the Red Sea was not a bigger sea.

For the dumbasses in this thread saying Snyder is overrated, here's a little stat for you.

Snyder's record there was 215-117-1, which is 65%. Kansas State's all time record (including the Snyder years) is 531-647-41, which is a win percentage of 45%. Kansas State was probably the worst program in college football before he got there. Arguably no program in the country has more built in disadvantages than Kansas State with absolutely no recruiting base and being located in the middle of nowhere.

The mouth breathers will say "he never won anything" because he didn't win a natty yet they worship Gary Patterson and Chris Petersen.

On second thought, it might not have worked. Snyder is man of impeccable character, and the culture of LieSU might have caused for too much tension

Like A&M topping the list of all time NCAA cheaters and hiring a coach that made a career out of protecting a rapist can talk about character. A&M is a farce. Both as a supposed athletic sleeping giant or a supposed holder of high character.

Snyder is overrated. He’s a control freak and that works fine at K-State but would’ve been a disaster at a major football school

For starters a COY award doesn’t mean someone is the best coach. Secondly I know Aggies believe that championships are myths but if Snyder was worth a shite he would have something other than a shelf full of participation trophies.

Only an ignorant fool would say Snyder was overrated. He did something at k State that had never and will never be done on the same scale in any program. Period. Without question he would have dominated at LSU with their resources.

I know one thing: we (LSU) could not have had worse HC's than Archer-Hallman-DiNardo between 1989-1999. Bill Snyder would have been a big improvement, imo.

He played in a division with two title contenders called Nebraska and Colorado, moron. I'm sure that put a dent in his plans.
