I just do not understand his love affair with Florida's defense. I enjoy Connelly's analysis but that part makes no sense imo

There is always a team or two that makes no sense that somehow games 6 levels of stats. Last year it was Ole Miss. A few years ago it was 6-6 Arkansas.

Florida sustained a lot of injuries last year and had to play a lot of younger guys who played well. This is why I expect UF to have a good defense. Maybe not LSU or Bama good, but close.

Hate to say it, well actually I love to say it, but Auburn being in Tier 2 is a disgrace.

Connelly has Florida's defense as #2 in the entire country iirc

So they should be even with Alabama? Because that's the only difference in Tier 1 and Tier 2.

Sure, but not #2 defense in the country good.

Not sure how good Arkansas will be, but no one has transferred from Ole Miss, lots of starters back..those that think they are going to suck just because of all the drama in the off-season...are wrong. The program is f***ed for 5 years easy. But next year, they aren't feeling the pain yet and will relish the opportunity to f*** up the season of a few SEC foes. No one is talking about them because of things that will have very little to do with whether or not they can beat you on any given Saturday. Thus, most underrated in the SEC...this analysis included.

Yeah, that was pointed out to me after the statement. I don't believe UF has the second best defensive unit in the nation.

I think South Carolina could be better than A&M.

I recall seeing Connelly's rankings a week or so ago. How is Auburn ranked as #2 ahead of LSU when he ranks the Auburn offense lower than LSU and defense efficiency around LSU?

You're right. It is as if this guy has gone to the trouble to come up with a system and then he ignores his system and goes with his gut on his rankings. I find it strange.

I don't get why Auburn is Tier 2 . . .

They have the same coach (8-5, 7-6, & 8-5 the last three years), an inexperienced QB, and the same defense (28th nationally).

A&M and LSU have better records over the last three years and just as much talent.

It is all really based on one inexperienced QB? Nothing else?

They finished 5th in the country last year in total D, ahead of LSU (10th). Bama was tied for #1.

They deserve the pre-season praise.
