They overpaid on the buyout. He would have taken a $100 gift card. Guy looked shell shocked . Didn’t want to be there any more is my sense

I know where he went. Pennsylvania is home for him. His wife don’t go to Duke, but she had family in the area. Still, wresting a coach away from A&M won’t be easy

I seriously think they waited to see if Cignetti could win the big game and cut Franklin.

Elko went to UPenn. Not Penn state. And he left A&M as a DC to become a head coach…

If he wants to live in Pennsylvania, there are two options and Penn isn’t one of them.. no clue what he’d prefer though

He has hopped wvery 2-4 years it looks like.. only those close to him know his dream job.

this is absolutely a possibility, but let’s pretend that that’s their target.

How does that work? You can include Elko in that group as well right now. Both have a legit playoff opportunity this year with maybe a team that’s good enough to win at all.

So does this coach accept a job and stay at their current school until the season is over?

At that point recruiting is over and the portal is closed so you’re basically screwed for all of next year. So whoever it is would have to leave now or at least at the end of the regular season. Right?

I just don’t see Elko or Cignetti bailing like that this year.

Matt Rhule - yes, as they are a longshot to make the playoffs in my opinion

Thoughts?

I guess conceptually you could hire a staff to do the recruiting for you over there, but then there’s the problem of coaching your current team knowing you’re leaving at the end of the year, it’s just a bad situation all the way around if you have a current playoff type team.

Good.

Pedo State wont win a conference for 100 years if there is any justice in this world.

Most evil program ever.

Why is everyone so sure Rhule is a home run hire?

I would not want him to be coaching at Mizzou.

I bet they talk to him off the record and wait until the season is over.

They only reason I say him instead of Elko is seeing him win the games in the same conference that Franklin could never win, but with a less talented team.

Cignetti has one legit win. Yesterday.

He beat a Michigan team last year that ended 8-5. He lost to OSU and ND.

I’m not sure the Illinois win earlier in the year should move the needle that much.

Is he a legit coaching candidate? Sure. I just don’t see a reason to assume he’s going to be a national championship contender automatically.
