7 straight national titles and seconds away from 8 straight will make a lot of people outside of the sec jealous and fish for every excuse to make them seem legit. But all I do know is all that money the big 12 is supposedly making is definitely not helping any of their teams win championships.

The Texas AD only got to keep $5 million from the LHN deal.

It's crazy because the Big XII has the potential to be so much more than it currently is. The powers that be would rather cater to everything Texas wants instead of looking out for what's best for entire conference. I don't blame any school who would want to leave with how things are at this moment.

Texas has them over a barrel now. If Texas leaves that conference is done and Texas isn't afraid to let everyone know it.
I severely underestimated the stroke OU has when everyone was looking to make moves. Turn out they are just another UT lapdog.

I only had took at one to see you were lying

Oklahoma in the 3 year article only got 5.8 per year and maybe might see a renegotiation in 2017 that could take it to 7 mil. Operating and broadcast costs are deducted from the 5.8 so it is much less that the university sees. The 5.8 also includes signage on stadiums and radio ad spots so it wasn't even close to being for all tv

I should correct myself, it does look like the West Virginia deal (6.75) includes radio. I think the rest (OK, Kansas) are just television.

What's your link on that $15 million Kentucky tier 3 deal? Thanks.

I think your apples are oranges. Kentucky gave up its tier 3 television rights (which I'm comparing using my links) and you are talking about radio deals.

No they didn't. Alabama has its own deal also.

I thought the foundation of the SEC Network was each school reverting its tier 3 television rights to the conference?

What's the matter, Old Sarge, can't handle a little discussion? Do you feel threatened that West Virginia, Kansas and Oklahoma make more than the $25 million number used in comparison to the SEC at 32?

The articles you linked made your post a bunch of lies

Why did you make all that up?

I'm surprised no one has corrected me, the numbers being quoted are $31 million per SEC team, and $25.6 million per Big 12 team.

Not including Big 12 third-tier TV deals, of course (see above).

At this time, Texas makes more than SEC teams in TV payouts, and WV, Kansas and Oklahoma are about equal, with Kansas State at $28 million.

Lets look at the overall numbers… USA Today

Top 10 = (4) SEC and (2) B12 or 2:1 ratio
#2 Texas 161 M
#4 Alabama 153 M
#6 LSU 134 M
#7 Oklahoma 129 M
#9 Florida 125 M
#10 Texas A&M 119 M

Top 25 = (6) SEC and (2) B12 or 3:1 ratio
#11 Oklahoma State 118 M
#13 Auburn 114 M
#14 Tennessee 107 M
#19 Georgia 103 M
#22 South Carolina 99 M
#23 Kansas 98 M
#24 Arkansas 97 M
#24 Kentucky 97 M

Top 51 = (3) SEC and (3) B12 or 1:1 ratio
#32 Missouri 84 M
#35 West Virginia 78 M
#36 Texas Tech 77 M
#38 Ole Miss 76 M
#43 Kansas State 73 M
#51 Mississippi State

This gap will grow greatly next year when we see the first full year revenues of the SECN and when the new Tier III deals see a full year for schools like Alabama and Kentucky.

Congratulations. You are probably right. Care to show me a link to Kentucky's tier 3 television rights you speak of? Alabama's?

$15 million Kentucky tier 3 deal?

They signed a new 200 million deal with JMI sports that will start hitting the bottom line in fiscal year starting July 1, 2015 so it will start showing on next years tax filings.

Texas always seems to be around the top of these lists, and I couldn't be less interested. I don't get any of this money. I don't buy t-shirts bragging about our revenue.

I care about one sport, football. We haven't won a national title in ten years. We haven't fielded a decent team in a half decade.

I understand why some schools get caught up in this nonsense. When you never win national titles in sports that matter, crap like this is all you have.

I think the point most of these posters is trying to make is that the Big 12's television business model with a bunch of rag-tag Midwestern teams would be a massive failure. It's not.
