Bowlsby revealed that, in the early years of the CFP, the other four Power Five leagues kicked in an extra $1 million ($4 million total) to the SEC "because of their historical value that they brought."
That shocked me. You know you’re in THE power conference when the others pay tribute.

At the end of the day, tu is going to be helped by the SEC and OU will be hurt by it.
quote:"Currently." I wouldn't bet the farm on that remaining the case going forward. Being the only SEC school in Texas was your primary selling point and that's going away.
The issue is A&M currently out recruits both and they don’t like it.

Y’all had to ask to follow us into our league. We won.

That's why the majority of A&M's defensive recruits in 2020, 2021 and 2022 are from out of state...oh...wait...(t.u. folklore)

quote:Aggy folklore notwithstanding, he's the shittiest commissioner in D1. It's the poorest run league with the undisputed most inept collection of game officials ever seen in modern sport. That's just two of many reasons why we're leaving. That he's still crying like a little bitch is just embarrassing.
Bob Bowlsby, the puppet installed as the Big 12 Commissioner after t.u.'s last puppet, Dan Beebe, was scapegoated for A&M and Missouri leaving and forced to resign, is just now realizing he's a puppet 10 years later.

They're just in an awful spot. Nothing wrong with that part of the country at all. They're just the unfortunate bastards caught in the middle of the Big 10, PAC-12, and SEC. As consolidation continues, they're the natural targets.
I heard one prominent big 12er try to explain how the incoming G-5 teams will trump the outgoing shorthorns and sooner. They've reached total denial.

That would be Larry Scott.

It made sense when everyone assumed a playoff expansion was inevitable. It makes no sense at all now that it looks like we're sticking with 4 teams.
Half the biggest and most committed programs in the country are going to be in one conference, where most years only 1 will get into the playoff regardless of how good the rest are.
I won't be surpised at all in OU and Texas find some reason to stay in the Big 12 if the playoff expansion doesn't happen. And frankly it will be better for the sport for them to stay Big 12.

It's better for the sport when both teams are a combined 1-23.

Last I checked, both Arkansas and Missouri border the state of Tennessee. Close enough.

Naw. OU isn’t going to win the SEC for at least a decade. That’s inherently going to make them weaker.
