Better team: 1996 State Dawgs or 2017 Sakerlina Cocks?

Mississippi State was a solid team, having achieved much success on the court and off, as Donte Jones completed an unprecedented 64 hours of coursework in one summer to enroll in Mississippi's College Town, Starkville. They finished in New Jersey at the Final Four and lost to Syracuse.

South Carolina could be even better, given their coach, Frank Martin, isn't sleeping with a current cheerleader on the Gamecock squad, like Richard Williams did at the time in Starkville. He also doesn't appear to be using the Miskelly's Furniture store's business office as a direct source of payment to members of the basketball team for their playing services.

What say ye, SECRant?

64 hours? That's 16 classes. What?

It was only 36 hours over summer school at Southern Miss. Still impressive work when he put his mind to it.

At least our cheating got us close enough to at least stay and watch the championship game.

You sure you aren't an Ole Miss fan? Sounds like something they'd say about their current cheating situation.

Did they still have the consolation game then? The NCAA actually awarded a 3rd place trophy to the winner.

So State even cheats better and more effectively than Ole Miss. Hell, if you're gonna do it, go big or go home.

I am thinking not. It would have been against UMass and Calipari and I would think I would have remembered that.

You STILL mad bro?

Well you do have to take into consideration, this was before the hugh freeze ACT test for the athletically gifted. It's so easy you don't have to read to be able to pass.

Frank Martin also hasn't been arrested in a drunken "international incident" while in the NIT either has he?

Nice try at a troll job BTW.

That State team was legit, couldn't believe they didn't beat Syracuse but their zone really took them out of their game..Daryl Wilson, Bullard, Donte, Dampier and big Russell were a powerful team, my vote goes to the Dawgs over SC

We had no answer for big John Wallace. Twenty five or so turnovers didn't help either. Donte at 6'7" could jump out of the gym. Great athlete.

Dawgs.

I played against Darryl Wilson and Hyche in high school so they get my vote.

No third place game then, but both us and UMass received a bronze version of the trophy.

Did we go to high school together? South Lamar kicked everyones arse Wilsons senior year. Hyche was a better football player than baketball at Winfield.

What were your school colors?

Orange, black and white. The tigers.

South Lamar was badass with Wilson and the other guard....Poole I think.
