Laundry list of records broken.....too many to mention in one thread.
4 national titles counted in a non-bama
reach-for-anything-kind-of-way. Could recognize more but doing it like the rest of NCAA teams.
7 top ten victories in one season compared to thst 2001 Miami team that beat.....Syracuse, BC and Nebraska.
LSU was teetering. But now it’s here.
Trump said so.

Someone posted a comparison thread for the past 20 years and I was stunned how well LSU’s resume compared to OSU, USC, Oklahoma, Bama, and Clemson. The first 4 are absolute blue bloods.

how about LSU being the only team with enough clout to have 2 losses and still get invited to the 'ship?
blue blood status was confirmed all the way back in 2007

If there was a catalyst needed; this was it.

Nope.
LSU would be the perfect definition of “New Money”. They are not a multi generational “born elite”. LSU is self made/recent success.
Before anyone loses their minds.. I’d argue that being New Money is favorable to being a Blue Blood.

agreed. BUT ask this question again in 10-15 years, and ill bet Nebraska gets booted from Blue Blood and replaced by LSU....IF we have one more excellent season

I know Saban’s been at Bama for a while, but I feel he put LSU on the map.
How do LSU fans feel about him?

I just want him to retire lol. Obviously thankful that he brought lsu up but once he went to Alabama he made it his mission to tear our program down. (making LA a primary recruiting ground and fighting for every major recruit LSU had a chance for, forming a team designed to shut down LSU's powerful running attack). So frick him but once he retires my feelings on him will change I'm sure.

They weren't teetering and LSU isn't a blue blood
that doesn't mean LSU isn't better than some blue bloods

You could say LSU put Saban on the map, and be truthful.

The blue bloods havent changed. Your like in the teens in total wins as a program behind Tennessee. You have less national championships than Michigan State

LSU has had a top five “ football culture “ since the late 1950s. It’s very central to our culture and we do it very well, tailgating, hospitality, traditions, community cohesion etc. On the actual field, prior to 2000. , we were ranked 14th best historical program which was correct imho. Very good, not great. Since then, three national championships should have vaulted us much higher.
FTR, I hate the “ total win “ stat that elevates teams with one championship above teams that win championships. I also hate the idea that a program isn't culturally relevant or relevant to cfb because they lose a lot on the field. This idea that you don’t count if you don’t have the crown is ridiculous . I love watching the Egg bowl or Aggie and whoever. I mean, it’s passion and fight songs and cords and all that stuff. It’s freakin America.

It may be thought of as the best team over time.
LSU is still mot a blue blood.
The list remains
The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame
Alabama Crimson Tide
Oklahoma Sooners
The Ohio State University
University of Southern California
Michigan
University of Texas
If you cant hear Keith Jackson saying yiur schools name; they ain’t a Blue Blood.

Did LSU make Saban or did Saban make LSU?
Seems there's some slight inaccuracies.
Could go both ways really. But, it is true he did make us into an elite program. Before then we were just a little less than the Georgia's and Auburn's of the world. That is -- we were at best a good program but never seen as a threat to win a NC. So, Saban did make us an elite program. We went from above average to elite or close to elite in a relatively short period of time. After Saban left LSU, we still expected to win a NC and realistically so. We did win one in 07 so that confirmed it that as a program we were capable of great things.
After having said all that, before Saban came to LSU what was he? It's not like he was a proven elite coach necessarily either. He was a very good NFL coordinator and a good midling coach -- that was just the impression though he really was good all along and would just prove his greatness eventually.
Turning this toward Bama ...
Outside of trolling, no one can say Saban made Bama. It's hard to make an argument that Bama made Saban because that's not true either. Bama and Saban were just the perfect storm.
As such, that win last night exercised those demons from 2011/2012. I personally believe that Saban will only be at Alabama at most 2 more years. But I don't care if he stays or not. We've shown we can win against him and win NC's. We don't need Saban to leave so we can win. No disrespect at all towards him but just saying there's plenty of room in the conference for all. May the best teams continue to win.

How long does N. D., Michigan and UT go without winning another title before they are removed from list?

Texas is the guy who won the lottery but blew all of their winnings and now they hang out at the gas station playing video poker and scratching tickets and talking about how much money they used to have.

Agreed. It didn't work out for Miami very well.

The blue bloods you are thinking of had a catalyst moment.
Whether it was in the 40s 60s or 80s, there was thst one game that solidified it.
This was it; the greatest football season ever.
And soon enough you’ll hear people say, “now I’ve heard of Kirk lee and Chris, but I don’t know who k Jackson is.”
