Burrow is gone, but some of the others are coming back. The cash is clearly an impermissible benefit and I fully expect NCAA sanctions to be imposed.
re: Clemson fans: Was Lawrence sick or hurt?

So a year ago when Clemson dominated Alabama 44-16 for the National Championship Game, Clemson played an ACC schedule while Bama played an SEC schedule.
How were they able to do that if the SEC is so much better than the ACC? Fact is both last year and this year, the better team won and their conference affiliation was irrelevant.

Clemson could likely beat any team not named LSU, regardless of what conference they played in.

I know Saban’s been at Bama for a while, but I feel he put LSU on the map.
How do LSU fans feel about him?

Not a Clemson fan, but I was rooting for them to be competitive, which they were for 3 quarters. Wasn’t surprised at all that LSU won by double digits. They looked unstoppable going into the game, so I was just hoping it wasn’t a blowout from start to finish.
Without doubt, LSU was the best team in the land on the college landscape. Congrats!

It's going to be hilarious when you lose your first game of the season. Hype train derailed right out of the gate as GT increases its SEC winning streak to 4.

With the exception of Loserville, the ACC has owned the SEC.

How did the ACC and SEC fare in head to head matchups?

Meh. The ACC's Big 8 is 8-0.

UT ded. GT owns the SEC East.

As a Yellow Jacket fan, of course I think my team is going to win. Looking at the matchup on paper, it should be a competitive game with Georgia Tech being a slight favorite.
Look forward to seeing you guys in Jacksonville. If you didn't know, you are the second SEC team we will be playing out of three in a row. We've just beaten Georgia, then we will open the season in the Fall with Tennessee.
We're sitting at 1-0 right now in that stretch. I don't think it's far-fetched that Georgia Tech runs the table and goes 3-0.

I highly recommend the Ritz-Carlton. There is one in downtown and one in Buckhead.

The LSU fans are right. Stopping the run in the option is no different than stopping it in a traditional offense. In both, all you have to do is tackle the guy with the ball.

Which team is representing the ACC in the national championship game again?
Florida and Oklahoma are playing for the championship. It's a match-up of schools from the SEC and the Big XII. The ACC is not represented.

Playing at home, GT was just a little better than Gardner Webb. Thank goodness it was a home game!
The defending national champions should win in a blow-out.

You guys are better than Gardner Webb, right? You should have no problems with little ole' Tech and their gimmicky offense. You are the defending National Champs. GT can't even win the weak ACC.
re: GT putting in "run and shoot" prior to bowl game...(LINK)
Posted by cincyjacket on 12/16/08 at 11:15 am to hiveredtech
Don't listen to hiveredtech. GT only runs one play and it's called the triple option. Basically the QB either hands it off to the fullback up the middle, keeps it, or pitches it out to the running back. That's all we do.
Plain and simple. You know it's coming, but there's nothing you can do about it. Just ask Georgia.

Getting through GT is a little bit like boot camp. You hate it while you're going through it, but afterwards, you get an immense sense of accomplishment and pride for making it out. Close bonds of friendship/respect form between alum because of the shared experience.
Not quite the college experience that most kids look forward to, but a rewarding one nonetheless.

I just made that distinction because I used to live in a place that had bars called The Office and The Library.
If you're a college student and your parents called and asked where you were last night. You could honestly answer The Library.
For husbands, if their wives ask, they could honestly answer The Office.
Clever, don't you think?

Walk... unless the weather is bad.
It is winter, and Atlanta does get ice/snow. Also, I'm guessing your kids would get a kick out of riding the train even if it is more inconvenient.
